If Bob returns alive, I think he'd be infuriated with his descendants. Not so much the money or possessions but the way they have treated Fontelle. Sadly, I am convinced that Bob is dead.

The oldest track a SAR dog can follow is something in the 10-14 day range. Given absolutely ideal conditions. It is highly unlikely that the girls were walked into 7 Bridges Park alive and then killed within 14 days of when their bodies were discovered. Just in my own humble opinion.

Some of the speculation I've heard (on WS and elsewhere) would just be hurtful. Such as graphic descriptions of what might have happened to the girls, graphic descriptions of scavenger activity, etc. No parent of a deceased child needs to hear that sort of thing without asking for it. Drew...

SBM This same daughter was asked by Bob (and possibly bribed) to stay away from him for six months after Georgia died. That doesn't sound like a very close relationship to me or the sort of relationship where the daughter does little things for him. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm warped...

SBM More importantly, the family back pedalled quickly on the possible dementia, legal blindness, etc and substituted "well, Dad probably ran away because he regrets his marriage." As Oriah pointed out, dementia and legally blind is a situation that needs an immediate call-out of SAR for...

If Bob had not disappeared, I like to imagine he and Fontelle engaged in mild adventures. Like maybe one of those Alaska cruises. A tour of England and Europe. Things like that, where they could see new things and have new experiences to share. And of course going back to Missouri together to...

We know Bob carefully documented his financial transactions and indicated the nature of each. My dad also makes lists. My dad's lawyer would be more than happy to make an appointment to see him on the same day my dad calls. Not an unusual thing for someone who has amassed a sizeable...

SBM My father was born within a week of Bob, so for me my dad is the test case as to certain aspects of the mystery. At Bob's age, Bob's primary doctor should have been assessing him for decreased cognitive functioning at every visit. It's easy, requires no equipment beyond a paper and...

Maiden Lane by Meyers Lake used to be a teen partying spot. So did 7 Bridges. That seems like an obvious link to me. As for gossip and speculation in Evansdale, I doubt the people in the smaller town near me would do so. Knowing that the parents were living there and were likely to hear...

IF, that is, he really wanted Bob to be found. It's amazingly difficult for humans to fake compassion well. Mother Teresa kind of did but there's plenty of investigative journalism that revealed her true nature. She had the advantage of the power of the ultimate patriarchal organisation...

Yeah, my impression is that the fence is there to keep bicyclists from falling into the lake. It doesn't really fully confine any area.

That sounds a lot like the old 'stranger danger' claptrap. If you look at the statistics on child abuse and particularly child sexual abuse, children are at far higher risk from adults in their own household than they are from being abducted by a non-household member.

The cell phone found at Meyers Lake belonged to Elizabeth. It wasn't in service but she used it to play games.

You are correct; the gate was closed and latched but not locked.

I'm a subscriber to the predator theory of sexual assault: that given a free choice between a willing partner and a less than willing partner, a rapist will choose the less than willing partner because something about coerced or forced sex satisfies them more than willing and consensual sexual...

I'm very, very eager to see the Disappeared episode, as is everyone else. What if the teaser had the time wrong and the reason the station has delayed showing it for so long is that they had to fix a misstatement bout the time?

Thank you for the link, it is very thought provoking. One thought occurs to me: in the Danish study (and many of the other studies cited), all participants are voluntary. I wonder if the same results would happen with involuntary participants (via court order or heavy coercion as in the...

Thank you for a very thoughtful post. There are no good statistics on recidivism amongst child molesters. There are studies but the numbers are all over the board. Part of the problem is that no one knows how common pedophilia is in the population. How many pedophiles are there out there...

Wow, I had never heard of that one before. Possibly because there are so few letterboxes in Iowa! My parents' letterbox went into a coat closet and so they never had to stop delivery for vacations, which is a known risk for burglary. It would probably take being away for a year to fill up...

Otto, you're not alone. I believe it was a sexually motivated crime and so do Drew and Heather Collins. Drew Collins voiced it and Heather was nodding her head when he said it, so I assume that they are in agreement on that.
