something that I forgot to add. This kid had attended an exclusive private school and his Sister was also at a good school with my sisters and I. She was a delightful, studious and well raised person, good family, happy etc. no issues seemed to be evident with the sister.

This is something I cannot seem to figure out. Was his upbringing really that bad? many kids are pretty much left to their own devices for a variety of reasons but it does not make them murderers/perverts etc... it makes me think that they are born with some kind of wierd quirk that is an...

OR,,,,, he ran ahead of her and 'laid in wait' in whatever plan he had devised. (just happened to be passing her door as she arrived, was acting the 'good neighbor' returning her cat as she opened the door, or had let himself in ahead of her arrival).

Mothers suffering Post Partum Depression will push their children away if they are crying/looking for attention. It is pitiful to think of a child experiencing this.

I am also stuck wondering whether he ventured back to longwood lane on the Saturday night to attempt to dispose of Jo's body over that wall! Maybe that was the night of the Golf Club party at the country club and too many people/cars around? He could have taken his bike and even gone through...

Sorry if I sound dumb.. what is the reference to the Ancient Burial Site? also, what does it mean to sell your soul to the devil as a child? What would a kid have to do in order to sell his soul to the devil?

I must agree with the author, I too had my reservations when VT was first arrested. I truly thought that LE were grabbing at straws. On another note, the book that this author in the article wrote "We need to talk about Kevin" is one scary book. I read it several years ago and it scrared...

I was just thinking, what a shame that VT's employers didn't have better security on their employees' computers. It may have raised serious alarms long ago.

If VT's Mom had Agoraphobia I can just imagine how that would affect his social skills. It must have been stressful for the whole family.

I don't think he deserves any accommodations. Despite his aging mother and family in Holland, why should he be allowed to continue to pull strings? As harsh as it sounds even his own Mother has to accept that he needs pay the price.

unless he had gotten away with similar crimes previously. Maybe he felt have Tanja as his girlfriend provided him a 'cover'.

I am thankful for a fair and just conviction. I think N Lickley performed his job superbly. I am so grateul to the group on this site who tirelessly assisted in unravelling the details of this awful crime.

I don't think think this is indicative of which peer generation you belong to; It is more that you just didn't happen to have a potential murderer/crazy person in your midst/as your neighbor. Your statement is pointing towards JY somehow being partly at fault which I cannot accept.

VT suddenly notices JY in the grocery store, abandons the shopping cart and heads for home fast to lay in 'wait'?

But if hiding the body was so important, surely he would have looked for a better location after failing to tip the body over the wall, rather than leaving it on a roadside verge? I believe he was disturbed while trying to lift the body over the wall? maybe he left her there intending to...
