"...he snapped like an abused woman..."
I didn't listen to the bit in which Roux used this expression but it has been widely reported and if accurate I think it hangs Pistorius as he deserves. It appears that counsel for the defence has been so infected by his client's attitudes that he too...
Agreed.
Not agreed. The opinion of a witness as to the relevance and credibility of his testimony is always valueless, even if he does give evidence, let alone when he doesn't. Only the court is competent to decide whether evidence is relevant and convincing or not.
You may be right. But...
In terms of a long-term successful appeal I think you're right. But in terms of keeping the ball in the air and OP out of gaol, alas it's another matter. OP is playing the system and Roux will be able to live on caviar and champagne at his family's expense for as long as it goes on, which may be...
But is it intellectually possible to believe everything that OP has said along the months of build-up to the trial and the countless changes in his story ?
Roux is far too intelligent not to realise that OP is guilty. That is not a reason for not defending him, but what is inexcusable is deliberately misleading the court.
My guess is that it was released by the Pistorius clan to turn public opinion in OP's favour (an effect it did tend to produce on those who had not been following the evidence critically). I suspect that the DT genuinely did not want the thing shown and are genuinely outraged and may indeed...
Getting the witness to agree that OP, according to what he said to Derman, fired at the sound to nullify the (supposed) threat. You don't think that by extracting that crucial admission (in total contradiction to OP's present claim) that Nel was successfully doing his job, under very difficult...
The video did not need to be raised explicitly. It was very clearly raised implicitly. That was what caused Derman to backtrack on the impression he was out to give last week. He has now recognized that OP on stumps is capable of what he himself thinks of as running and that he (Derman) does not...
It's also intuitive that young, male world-class athletes are on average less vulnerable as potential crime victims than, to borrow the comparison you suggested here, a slight 66-year-old female judge with permanent polio damage and possibly rheumatoid arthritis.
