I imagine this thread will now be closed, just to thank you all for a well-mannered, intelligent discussion- it has been a real pleasure on here over the last few weeks, so different from so many on-line discussions, which degenerate rapidly into personal abuse.
This case will not go down in history as the finest hour of British journalism, that's for sure! Much better and more accurate reporting from small local newspapers than from Fleet Street or even, dare I say it, the BBC. Some very sloppy "journalism".
The police can only hold NUA until this evening, and at that point he must be charged or released. The pressure on the police to press charges will be intense, and that really worries me. There have been too many miscarriages of justice in similar circumstances, and I do wonder whether the...
The resemblance struck me straight away (and NUA's girlfriend is pretty similar too), but I was so convinced that it was b/f, I never really thought it through. If it was NUA, then why would it only be once? We are into possible serial killer territory here, but only IMO, of course.
I have to say that I didn't think I would be posting here again, because yesterday morning I thought this case was done and dusted. Now I'm not so sure, in fact I get the strong feeling that there are a few more twists and turns before we get to the bottom of this most mysterious case.
I do...
There is a shed at the end of the path, just past Jo's front door, there was a lot of discussion about whether this blocked access to the back garden, but I think it was concluded that it didn't. Very open to correction on this, though.
There would originally have been open fires in every room in that sort of building. Often the flues have been capped, but quite often not. You can still have an open fire in towns so long as you burn only smokeless fuel.

Try this, from a source I've found more reliable than the BBC throughout all this.
Getting rid of one of those without trace poses a few problems, I would suggest. The police need to put out an appeal now. And probably should have done weeks ago.
Just another thought on the bag news- if it is confirmed, of course. This must surely confirm that Jo was murdered in the flat- which would eliminate a whole raft of theories, and hopefully narrow the field of suspects.
The bag story certainly explains why forensics have drawn a blank (apparently) with the cars they have examined. However I can't understand why the body would be removed from the bag before dumping. That would be difficult. Although maybe to get rid of any forensics on the outside of the bag...
Yes, a missing suitcase would just make me think that she'd had a fight with GR, packed a bag, and gone off to stay with a friend. If anything, it would reassure me. Which shows how stupid I am!
