I don't understand the council's objection to a flowering gum being planted on the site, particularly if it's native to the area? I think it's a beautiful yet unobtrusive memorial to her. Hope Tom is doing OK and has the support he needs. 3 years in a new city is long enough in my experience...

<modsnip> I'm not at all surprised - Carl Williams was also supposedly under close watch and I imagine there would have been some distinct advantages in him disappearing as well......in my humble opinion ;)

I'm not sure if this info makes me feel better or worse for Jill. Whilst it's a small mercy she allegedly wasn't aware of the rape, I can't help but think she'd have been able to fight him off and escape if he hadn't knocked her out quickly :(

Agreed - this scenario makes the most sense to me, especially as no charges or further investigation have occurred. I guess PO's can form a fairly close relationship with their "clients", so maybe the phone call was possibly even sanctioned by the police in an effort to casually extract more...

It makes me (even more) sad for Jill that she was left down that alleyway in the middle of the cold, dark night whilst AB calmly and methodically went about organising the means to hide her body :( This news about the public official warning phone call has totally floored me and makes me...

FruitTingles - so sorry to hear you lost your dad suddenly. A few words of support from a stranger are probably not much comfort to you, but I hope you have a lifetime of wonderful memories shared with him to carry in your heart forever :rose: Agreed - there is no way I could do her job, but...

I am not an expert in dealing with politicians (in fact some would argue I'm not an expert in dealing with much at all ) but I do know from experience that writing a "snail mail" letter will always get a response. It seems a physical letter is more real and demands attention more so than...

Thank you for this link, it really is a beautiful piece. :) It heartened me to hear there was a whole lotta laughter and joy in celebrating her life at the ceremony. I particularly liked JM's mum's request for us to "Smile when you think of her. She was gorgeous in every way." I noted that...

Long time lurker, first time poster - hello everyone :newhere: I've been following the case from the start - Melbourne is my recently adopted new home and I've been out on Sydney Road once or twice and have had that "it could've been me" thought like many others. We even considered renting an...
