Found Alive WI - Jayme Closs, 13, Barron, missing after parents found shot, 15 Oct 2018 *Arrest* #37

The Barron County prosecutor commented in the press conference today that he thought the case would go to trial. Doesn't mean it will, but that is his preliminary thought.

Right - that may or may not happen in this case. during the press conference, the Barron County prosecutor indicated that all charging decisions related to activities in the house in Gordon would come from the Douglas County prosecutor. That doesn't mean that they won't put the cases together...

Found Alive WI - Jayme Closs, 13, Barron, missing after parents found shot, 15 Oct 2018 *Arrest* #37

I previously commented on this - no charges were sealed, only the probable cause statement, which is different.

Found Alive WI - Jayme Closs, 13, Barron, missing after parents found shot, 15 Oct 2018 *Arrest* #37

Well that may be true for the Wisconsin statutes, in this case, the Barron County prosecutor explicitly stated that the Douglas County prosecutor would be doing the investigative work to determine if there any charges related to activities in Gordon. That doesn't mean that the cases won't be...

It's not a charge, though. I may have been unclear in my previous response. There are no sealed charges. The search warrant (probable cause statement) is sealed. The probable cause statement, which is a statement that allows a judge to sign off on a search warrant, is sealed. That is likely...

Found Alive WI - Jayme Closs, 13, Barron, missing after parents found shot, 15 Oct 2018 *Arrest* #37

Nothing is sealed yet. According to the post-hearing press conference, the Douglas County Attorney's office has not yet filed charges, and is currently working with investigators to determine what, if any, charges will be brought against the defendant. Given that the crimes that may have...

Actually, just to clarify, we DO NOT know if TB was intoxicated or not - only that drugs and/or alcohol did not cause his death. He still could have been drunk, it just wasn't what killed him.

I think there is a very plausible explanation as to why law enforcement would conceal a vehicle that may have been at the scene. It actually relates to what I personally think is the most likely scenario given what we do and don't know about this case. I think that TB was hit by a vehicle...

First of all, I wanted to thank Rocco and Proudpapa for their compliments on my previous post. I appreciate it very much! This case is quite unique in that there are many "unknowns" to the public at this time. Some of the unknowns I previously mentioned in my earlier post (i.e. DNA testing...

I absolutely believe that statement. Given that there are only 2 BCA forensic labs in the state of Minnesota, even a "top priority" case will have delays. I don't claim to have knowledge of how long the backlog of cases is at the BCA, but I am not surprised by a delay in these types of cases...

McGee isn't the only ME in Ramsey County. Dr. Kelly Mills is also there, and she is excellent. So McGee may not even be the doc doing the autopsy. (note: the article is from 2011, and there was an investigation done into McGee with a report and recommendations released in 2012.) Also - an ME...

Generally, when someone is pulled over for DUI and they appear to be highly intoxicated, the police will bring them somewhere for their own safety. This usually means the person is taken either to a "drunk tank" to wait out the intoxication, or if the police feel this person is at risk, to some...

Interesting updated article with quotes from Moorhead PD - but be careful when reading it. Some of the quotes might be taken out of context - for example, the Lieutenant says it is an emotional crime, but he may be referring to it as the emotions surrounding what happened - not necessarily that...

The "J" who sent the tweet is JW, who is roommates with CM - that is why he asked CM to come and pick them up as they were lost. JW and Bearson were friends from high school. http://www.twincities.com/localnews/ci_26584786/police-expand-search-missing-ndsu-student-from-minnesota

GUILTY MN - Kira Trevino, 30, St Paul, 22 February 2013

I can help a little. Count 1 is obvious: it alleges that JT caused the death of Kira without premeditation. Count 2 means that Kira died while JT was committing a felony, but he didn't mean to kill her. That's known as "felony murder." Where, if someone dies during the commission of a...

Actually, the police didn't exactly "clear" the roommate. The exact statement from the amended complaint indicates that: "Despite numerous attempts by police to challenge MR, he has denied hearing anything or any involvement in the disappearance or murder of Kira Steger. Police investigators...

It's kind of hard to follow the tweets, because the reporters are not allowed to tweet from the courtroom. They have to do it on breaks, which can be anywhere from 5-15 minutes (or longer) if it's in between witnesses or the judge has requested a break. That's why most of the tweeting is done...
