Thank goodness Baez is KC's attorney. He is helping bring justice for Caylee.

There were sightings among the psychics and suggestions - the judge saw them in court and commented on it.

If Baez has a cadre of people ready to sift through the info that LE has received, his objection seems to be that he was charged for information he doesn't find pertinent. How would the state know that Baez would discount the tips received from psychics?

If one of these "uninvestigated" leads called into LE could possibly lead to the recovery of "live-caylee".... how in the world do you know that tip isn't tip 5000 because the first 2000 were flakes calling the hotline? Call 4997 could be from the invisible nanny herself, providing her invisible address. And he doesn't want to pay for the copies? How much is little Caylee's life worth? How much is Casey's life worth since she is his client? If my attorney wouldn't pay for the copies or take the time to read every flakey tip that came in and decide with firsthand knowledge there was nothing useful to my defense among them, I would not be a happy client. Why isn't Cindy flipping out about that?

Have we ever determined if Baez finally got to be Court appointed? Maybe he is driving for that. I noticed, besides the wasting of the Court's time on the payments and media presence, that Baez is handling this like it is a Civil case not a Criminal case. I don't think he has much experience in criminal matters before the Court. The perp and the A Fam members would be wise to ask the Court to have Baez withdraw and receive a Court appointed criminal defense attorney. IMO.

I felt that while Baez might have a different type of style...he is still professional and is getting the results he wants. I thought that he was well prepared for this hearing.

And I can't comment on CA as I did not see that part.

Is he getting the results he wants? How would you know that?
I don't share your opinion. I think the counter suit against ZFG proves JB isn't seeing the big picture, he's just reacting from one crisis to the next.
We'll see, but I think JB is in so far over his head and level of expertise, that his client is suffering. Not that she doesn't deserve it mind you IMHO.

I was at work and was only able to hear about 20 minutes of arguing. I was literally laughing at the defense team and their demeanor which reminded me of little boys tattling on the bigger boys.

(Use little boy whiny voice) "But Dad, he was supposed to give it to me a long time ago. No one said I had to pay for it. It's not fair!" (stomp foot here)

And then I saw a glimpse of Cindy and she could barely contain herself just to sit there. She kept wanting to get up and talk. OMG!

I must agree with BonKai, I did not see Baez as well prepared. No one got the Notices to Appear, he handed out a 150 page or so document as soon as the Judge arrived, he did act like a spoiled brat the whole time, stomping feet, wasting time on not willing to pay fees, etc... I do think the perp needs a better defense attorney. Regardless of the outcome of the trial, we all know there will be appeals, but let us hope not a second trial! (Better stop bashing Baez now, oops!)

I think Florida must have different laws than the rest of the U.S. I think I saw game playing by the Pros. The judge seems a little loosy goosy to me. Ten days to get documents... uh the pre trial is coming up in a couple of weeks. They talk about docs getting from one office to another because it takes days? Sounds like everyone is a little too laid back in that office. I have visions of the mail room boy wandering the halls lost for hours , drinking coffee and days later arriving at someone's office. The sec sticks them in her desk because she has to go to lunch with the girls, forgets about them for two days. Finally someone asks " Oh by the way, did you get that paper work for that lawyer, what's his name?"
I really don't blame Baez for being furious. I still wonder, however, if Baez is being paid by someone. He claims his client is paying him,,,, just how I wonder?
I don't believe for a minute that he is court appointed. But.. it does seem that Fla does things differently.

I guess I am a little confused here......
If the judge does indeed set forth a gag order how can it not apply to CA and GA???
It would include attorneys from both sides, experts and witnesses right???
To my knowledge CA and GA are on the States witness list!!!!!!!!!
Maybe the judge is going to allow them to voice their options about a live Caylee and their search for her (he really can't stopped them from doing that) but I would think he would include them in not being allowed to comment any further about the investigation, law enforcement or the criminal case in general....
DON"T YA THINK!!!!!!

Judge Strickland is one smart man. By not including CA/GA/LA in any gag order he may or may not issue, it is best to let them continue to rant and rave and eventually they will confess. He has many years of experience dealing with CA type individuals. Once the trial begins, he will have the authority to dispense "contempt" orders against the A's if and when they leave the scope of the law in their testimonies.

Kudo's to LE/SA and the court system and Judge Strickland.

Capri is right. "Anyone with intelligence can see what he wanted..." doesn't cut it in court for a variety of reasons I don't need to get into here-suffice it to say--when you request something in court you have to request it with particularity. Also, if the Judge thought the prosecution was playing games he would have called them on the carpet for it--it happens all the time. I've been practicing law a long time and without question JB is incompetent to handle this case. His argument that he didn't want to pay is a joke--the state regulates the amount of money charged and it applies to everyone. Regardless, it was in bad taste and an incredible waste of the defenses' time and energy. The fact that he would waste precious time and energy before trial over less than a $1000 in as serious case as this speaks volumes as to his competency or lack thereof.

:clap::clap::clap::clap:
ITA ... even the other atty handling a portion of the motions did not appear to be cutting it either, IMHO.

Hmmm, just a thought ... I'm not involved in crimlaw but if she were convicted and then were to appeal the conviction based on ineffective assistance of counsel counsel, how successful would she actually be in that regard? JB said at the hrg yesterday that he is entitled to handle the case and defend his client by any means, i.e. he can provide stmts to the media, he can submit to interviews by Grace, Geraldo, etc., he can tell his defense expert to go on Grace's show. Also, who is to say that KC is not in part directing the way he is defending her ... got to think that she's got some say in how he portrays her case, otherwise he would be outta there.

Got any idea about that? As you can see, i have no clue about

Judge Strickland is one smart man.

ITA. I have sat through countless trials (as a Victims' Advocate, not legal counsel). Judge Strickland, so far, has proven to be neither a publicity seeking "Ito", nor power hungry. Many judges would have deliberately embarrassed Baez for his lack of experience, even to the point of reaming him out in front of everyone. While explaining how "things work" to Baez, he has been very patient and professional. LE will never pull the wool over Strickland's eyes. He knows what is normal procedure in their department, and what isn't. He will reprimand and sanction them when warranted.

If CA thinks she is going to control his court room once they go to trial, she had better think again.
