This part has me befuddled:

"Local 6 News has confirmed that Uncer was the corrections employee who escorted Anthony from her cell and observed her reaction to the news, which she watched on TV in the common area. Anthony also asked for a sedative to calm her down, Local 6 News has learned."

Why did they take her from her cell? Why not wait and let Baez or a family member inform her of the find rather than take her to the common area to watch the TV coverage? It's not the prison's job to inform her.

I think they said they took her to the nurse's station in case she had a really bad reaction . . .

But if they hadn't taken her to the infirmary, she wouldn't have seen the TV coverage and there would have been no bad reaction.

I agree with you -even if she did, she could still get meds. That's just what I heard - maybe it was just the media's guess - I'll try to find a link

Oh no, don't trouble yourself trying to find a link. You're right, that's what was said, that she was taken to the infirmary in case she had a bad reaction to the news. What I don't understand is why they took her there to hear the news in the first place.

actually the jail is the ones that inform an inmate of bad news....like a death in the family....there was an interview with the jail about this....and most of the time they take them to the infirmary incase they need assistance afterwards.....or need to have some counseling
oh...and someone from the jail was at one of the court hearings as well and said the same thing to the judge, when deciding about releasing the tape....just because Baez wanted to be the one to tell his girl...doesnt mean the jail had to let him....the jail went by protocol

....bolded by me above...
BINGO.. This is what I was saying..
She normally is in her cell. She was watching TV in the common area (WHY???) then she had a reaction to the NEWS then taken to the medical area because she was hyperventilating.

The news report above states that a prison employee SPECIFICALLY MOVED her to the COMMON AREA to WATCH the NEWS and then OBSERVED her reaction.

Not... on her way to the medical area... she watched the news.
Not ... in the medical area .. she was told the news

If she would have been out for her "hour" of free time (shower, excerise, TV time etc) and THEN SEEN the news then reacted...different story.

Why did they just not have a prison OFFICIAL just tell her in her CELL??? WHY LET HER FIND OUT FROM THE NEWS???

I think it possible that KC might have been taking there for a prearranged visit. Needed meds, to see a dr for some unknown reason etc.. If this is the case the the tape from the reception area would have just been a lucky break. If however, KC was taken there for no other reason than to see the news report I doubt it will come into evidence.

That just doesn't make sense to me. The prison personnel are merely guardians of the prisoner. It's not their place, IMO, to inform the prisoners of anything, particularly if it relates to the case against the prisoner. If Casey found out accidentally - for instance if the news came on while she was already watching TV - that's understandable. But to intentionally take her out of her cell and have her watch the news, that doesn't sit right with me.

you wait in a common area....to have your turn for medical treatment....

Yes, the jail informs a inmate that SOMEBODY DIES in a family and they may take them to the infimary as SOP....but the remains were not confirmed to be Caylee's AT THAT MOMENT. So why would they take her to the infirmary?

Read the news report again....
It states.... the employee took Casey to the COMMONS AREA TO WATCH THE NEWS.

So are you saying.. that it is SOP to take inmates out of their cells to WATCH THE NEWS to be informed of information that pertains to them?
If so, I will humbly disagree.

I think the jail was working with the LE and police department and was told to specifically let her watch the news and get a reaction on camera.

Right, wrong or indifferent.. I just do not think that is Standard Operating Procedure.

you wait in a common area....to have your turn for medical treatment....

But if they were going to tell her BAD NEWS.. and this being a high profile case... then why would they have her wait like a regular patient??
Once again, the news report says the employee took her to the commons area to watch the news.. then she hyperventilated then requested medical attention.

JMHO

The jail did not use the same 'protocol' when LP found the bag of rocks during his media event at Blanchard Park. Instead of taking Casey to the infirmary to watch the news, they led her away from the TV and put her back in her cell.

Had they not taken her to the common area intentionally to watch the news, she would not have been waiting for medical treatment.

The news report specifically states...she was taken to medical ONLY AFTER seeing the news report.

I understand Chilly :) the jail has Chaplin's and councilors (sp?) for that....I know it seems a little tricky.....but I dont think it was out of place for LE to do.....it was a body found....not yet Caylee....

Jail personnel are not LE.

again....I see where you are coming from....:)

We don't know what she saw or if LP had even had made his find at the time Casey was watching, so we don't know if there was anything for her to react to. They did hide the news from her. When they saw what was on TV they made her leave the common area and return to her cell.

Seems there are "conflicting reports" (are you surprised?)

Casey Anthony told of Caylee ID shortly before public was told
Walter Pacheco | Sentinel Staff Writer

4:54 PM EST, December 19, 2008
Officials at the Orange County Jail said a chaplain broke the news to Casey Anthony that her daughter's remains had been identified Friday.

"Inmate Casey Anthony is aware of the developments in her case," said Orange County Jail spokesman Allen Moore. "She was notified by a jail chaplain as is consistent with our policy. The notification came at approximately 1:45 p.m."
