Cripes, they are like insects at a picnic on the 4th of July ~ These attorneys keep crawling out of their holes in the ground and siging on like little Pied Pipers. Good God ~

As far as Baez backing out, I don't think he could even if he wanted to because of that law that was recently passed regarding clients that have spent all their blood, I mean "stash of cash".
He is here for the duration unless he falls off Geraldo's yahct at and is lost at sea, or, is hit by lightening on the golf course.

So, 3 new attorney's attaching themselves to the trial of the century ~ All pro-bono, of course, I'm sure.
They are gonna have to play rock, paper, scissors for a seat at the desk in the court room ~!!

And, of course, having three "new" attorneys will mean that Jose will need "more time" to get them up to speed. *sarcasm* .....meaning requests for more delays.

Wonder how HHJP will respond to that?

I really think THIS is the big question yet to be answered - Is Cheney Mason staying or going? I realize they are introducing 3 new attorneys and one is 'trying to keep her from receiving the DP'. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that atty. is DP qualified. The statement is legally vague. That could be someone specializing in mitigation and preparing for the penalty phase.

It is going to be hard for CM to withdraw, imo. I noted that HHJP addressed him specifically several times at the last status hearing. I think CM is incredibly frustrated with Baez. I believe CM thought when he joined that he could convince Baez to take more of a back seat and allow CM to take first chair calling the shots. It is pretty clear that Baez isn't budging and CM is frustrated. That said, I still am not convinced he is withdrawing.

Either way, there still is no need for a big ol' hoopla of calling a press conference. Attorneys file motions to withdraw and notices of appearance ALL.THE.TIME and never call the press to announce it. The clerk enters the filings into the record and they are introduced to the judge at the next hearing. Standard protocol.

This sounds like it's going to be first an announcement that Mason can't handle two major cases at the same time, so he's stepping down from the Anthony case; and second, a press conference regarding Greer case.

I'm remembering him from the William Kennedy Smith case. Definitely a high-profile, well-respected lawyer. Can't imagine why he would want to get involved in this circus.

Was just coming to post that I thought I recalled that Roy Black was the defense attorney for William Smith. then saw this post!

So he began dating one of the jurors after the acquittal of Smith?!

Is Roy Black even licensed to practice out of Florida?

Immediately after the Anthony news conference, Mason said he plans to hold a second press conference regarding former Florida GOP chairman Jim Greer, who is accused of stealing $125,000 from the state Republican party.

Mason declined to release the reason for that news conference as well; however, the Orlando Sentinel reported that attorneys for both parties in that case have agreed to delay the trial until next year.

ClickOrlando and Local 6 will bring complete coverage of both press conferences.

Once both lawyers were in the courtroom ( televised live mind you) I would like Judge Perry to advise both lawyers that in the interest of thier client getting a fair trial he is now issuing a Gag Order !!

Black would fill a void left by death penalty expert Andrea Lyon, who left the case in June.

Recently, Ocala attorney Dorothy Clay Sims was added to the team to focus on depositions leading up to the trial, which is set for May, 2011.
