Why the changes HHBP has done with the swearing in? Do you think they will go ahead with the panel handraising of the jurors for financial hardship?

Looking at the picture of all the lawyers standing together...wasn't ICA invited?

I believe 100% there may be instances where the DP is warranted. I do not believe in the DP 100%.

everybody's waiting to use their strikes on any or all of those that are in - no one is sworn yet, so they are all at risk of being striken - as I understand.

I dont understand why the SA & DT confer together on jury selection....

Also sure sure of the "why" but I do like seeing them try to work this out together so we can get this show on the road!

Sorry a little OT, but I have to ask just to vent...

When did our system so fall apart, such that in order to protect the perceived rights of the individual to not simply a fair trial, but to project the trial environment into a complete vacuum from reality, that we took away our communities rights to actually try and adjudicate the crimes committed within them (change of venue) and we stripped out the ability of a reasonable well informed well educated lay citizenry to be permitted to sit in judgement? (Voir Dire actively selecting for the uninformed, the uneducated, the ignorant and the true hermits in our society). Whatever happened to the presumption that the typical citizen, so long as they are not a felon, insane or a sworn state officer, is competant to sit in judgement of any trial at any time. You could not or were not supposed to call the jurors into question in these manners.

Timely well written rant Faefrost - thank you for that!!!

What concerns me, if I heard the Judge correctly, is that if they have 5 alternates, the DT and State will have 1 strike for each alternate. If that is true, the DT can strike all of the alternates, then we will be back to only 12 and no alternates. Is that correct?

Judge Perry is a gentle teacher.

Now if only the students would pay attention to his class. ;)

Hehehehee.

Sh**s about to get REAL for ICA.

Sitting in a defensive position with hands balled into fists up against her cheeks.

Oh most definitely - they can take the strikes the judge gives them (depending on the number of alternates provided) plus the one(s) left and strike a bunch. This isn't over by any means!

MOO

well those are opinions you hold about it.

she says she holds none, doesn't believe anything about the DP, pro or con

but then she says she is a ten on AF's scale on "how inclined would you be to impose the DP. from a scale of 1 to 10. "

noones asking her to "come up" with them on the spot. just if she has ANY. you have some and believe in it 100%. that I get.

her, I do not.

And I'm not sitting on a witness stand on the spot. I don't know if I would be able to think on the spot like that. I believe in the DP 100% and I would say a 10 too. There's nothing wrong with believing in the DP and never being in the situation to make a decision based on facts whether or not you hold and opinion to what warrants the DP.

I understood exactly what she was saying.
