HHJP: the request Mr. Baez is about what we talked about, leading the witness in this area.
JB: ? relevance.
HHJP: bring in the jury.
(um...anyone else notice ICA's...um...never mind...I love TOS!
HHJP: sorry for late start but had tech difficulties with the sound system.
LDB: on july 3rd you hosted a paragraph on MySpace?
yes
LDB: did you ever talk to Casey about what you posted?
yes, I believe it was the following day.
LDB: did you express to her your feeling that Caylee was missing and you didn't know why?
figure of speech, she was missing in my heart, Casey and I spoke about why I wrote that.
LDB: you did not know on july 3rd that Caylee was not with Casey?
no I did not. Casey explained that she needed time away. She was not punishing me, she needed time to sort things out. Seeing Jeff again rekindled and empty nest and loved me and didn't want me upset and she needed to work things out in her mind. She was going to grow up and I realized I was being selfish.
LDB: once she told you this you decided to stop questioning her about that?
yes
LDB: ?
the feelings I spoke about was everything up until july 3rd. she had lied to me.
LDB: that she was jealous?
that was my interpretation
LDB: did you discuss with her your feelings?
JB: objection
HHJP: overruled
LDB: did you discuss that she was jealous of you for some reason?
it was brought up by jesse grund...
LDB: did you discuss this with Casey that she was jealous of you?
yes
LDB: that she left without warning?
yes
LDB: was that true, that she left without warning?
?
LDB: did you discuss your issue or feeling that she had left without warning even though you had been the one to cloth, feed...Caylee.
I think I was, my whole purpose of writing the letter I didn't want to go into it on the phone. How she made me feel those last two days lying to me when she wasn't in Orlando.
LDB: did you discuss your feelings when she said you were controlling her life?
no
LDB: during the time you talked to your daughter about the feelings you expressed did it conclude with her saying she does need her space?
yes
LDB: after that conversation, did you back off?
I started texting her. she would leave messages and I would text back. I did persist every day about speaking with Caylee because I wanted to hear her voice.
LDB: were you told what Caylee was doing?
napping, on a beach in Jacksonville, on a boat, just various places
LDB: based on covos with daughter did you have expectation on when she would return from jacksonville.
yes, after that fourth of july weekend. that is when she told me there was something wrong with the pontiac. jeff was going to look at it, the gas tank.
LDB: did that make her stay out of town?
yes, monday or tuesday plus we knew Casey needed to get her breaks done. I don't know a lot about cars and I was the one who spoke to Casey everyday.
LDB: did you tell George that you spoke to Casey everyday?
yes, I am the one who told him to back off of her.
LDB: after that did you expect her back?
on that Sunday after the holiday weekend we got a text that Jules was getting married and Jules is jeff's mother...impromptu thing she had had cancer and they were getting married at the chapel and they would be home on Monday july 14th
LDB: were they?
they were packing, her and Jeff. Jeff was coming back to Orlando and they were caravaning back and would try to be home by tuesday the 15th.
LDB: on sunday were you and your husband working in the yard?
yes, had planted new sod and George was watering it, so I was out weeding and George was off to the side and I noticed a paper on the door...
LDB: why was it difficult to see it?
a glare off the glass on the front door and the notice blended in with the front door, as I got closer I could see it and I took it off at that point.
LDB: do you know how long it was there?
thursday or friday, I saw either the 10th or 11th date on there
LDB: when you come out of your house what do you use?
garage
LDB: did it give you any idea what it was about or who it was from?
it said Johnson's and I don't know Jonhsons...
LDB: George job?
had just started
LDB: did you think Casey was coming right to your home?
that they would be home some time in the afternoon.
LDB: did you work?
yes
LDB: husband work?
three to 11
LDB: did you learn your husband went to post office to pick up certified letter?
yes
LDB: did he call you at your office to tell you what the letter was about?
yes
LDB: did he tell you Casey's car was in Orlando?
yes
LDB: did you attempt to contact your daughter?
yes
LDB: ?
I said she had a lot of explaining to do.
LDB: did she explain?
no
LDB: did you tell her she needed to call?
yes, needed to be home so we could talk this out.
LDB: next?
George went to Johnson's and handed him a receipt and it was 400 and both our names was on title and so we both went. I stopped at ATM to get money...
LDB: you left work at what time?
within minutes of him going to the post office he was at the tow yard, if I had to guess 12:30 1:00.
LDB: did you get any access to the car while at tow yard?
I did not, I was close to the car when George came around when he could drive it, I was waiting for him and it was raining. He said lets get this car home it stinks.
LDB: were you able to detect an odor at that point?
no, we went home and George drove into the garage the right hand side, my normal spot and I left mine out.
LDB: it was raining?
a misty rain
LDB: did you access the car?
George was out of the car and as I walked up I could smell the car.
LDB: what did you say
oh my gosh what is wrong with the car, and George preceeded..
objection
LDB: did you make a comment?
yeah, I said it smelled like something had died in the car.
LDB: did you know about any garbage in the car?
yes
LDB: ?
George was getting ready to go to work, we had opened the trunk and we took the battery out because we were afraid Casey would come and take the car and we couldn't talk to her. I noted Casey's purse was on the front see, and Caylee's favorite doll was sitting like where she would have sat. I noticed Caylee's backpack in the back of the car. I took Caylee's doll out of the car and I took the backpack out of the car and Casey's purse out of the car and Casey's shoes...a blue plastic collapsible basket in the back...belts and odd and ends...
Caylee's doll smelt like the car, we have an ice chest and I sat the doll down and got a clorox wipe and wiped down the face and the hands and the cloth smelled and I got fabreze and sprayed the doll, I used a whole can of fabreze on the car...
LDB: you said to your husband, what died?
yes
LDB: the smell is that a smell you recognized?
it was pretty strong, I used the expression what died, but at that time I never put anyone in the trunk of the car, I was satisfied with what George told me at the tow yard.
LDB: nurse?
yes
LDB: what is experience with decomp?
very bad wounds, amputees who have flesh that rots, as a student nurse we went to the morgue to see bodys that had been out there a while.
LDB: you used the expression what died with your husband. at that point were you concerned that something had died in the car?
no
LDB: did George take any action as it relates to the car?
no ma'am I was in the garage pretty much the whole time George was home. he went inside to get his things and then he went to work.
