The reason for Ms. Welch having to come back in is that Dr.Bock is going to testify regarding photos she had reviewed but those photos were not yet in evidence. Ms. Welch had to be on the stand to authenticate the photos in order for the defense to bring them into evidence. That's all it was, IMO.

"Mendara". What does that term mean pleaseandthankyou.

Mendara is the name of the poster who asked...what are they doing and why? and I forgot to quote him/her---sorry :)

Jane Bock was NOT familiar with plants in this region. She specializes in botany in the Western US.

Hope JA asks her about that too.

BTW....she was able to determine a drowning wasn't an accident based on botanical materials found in a victims lungs.

Again....all linked in the Jane Bock thread.

I recall all to well hope she brought her "BOOK" this time :)

Bock read the report of Dr. Hall - a forensic botonist - that's anew name - we haven't seen him - have we?

Bock looked at crime scene photos and was careful to say she visited "discovery scene."

I wonder if Ms. Welch was called for the purpose of buying some time for the next witness to get to court. Or maybe I'm just cynical?

Perhaps your correct . I think that they are trying to lay a foundation so they can later come back and try to argue there is a crucial missing photo and that this mysterious missing photo was a key piece of evidence. I think they are trying to set it up so they can argue that the CSI "botched" the investigation and that hey did "shoddy" work.
Can you hear my eyes rolling?

Listening to DS and Dr. Bock's soft voices, the jury will be asleep shortly. jmo

Nope. And I've always wondered why the state didn't put a botanist on the stand. Maybe saving him for rebuttal? :waitasec:

Since we can't see the photos that were published to the jury Mendara I can only guess that there are some photos that would make it appear as if ground clutter/foilage was moved---and thereby open up the possibility that the remains were moved prior to documenting. (remember the argument that Caylee's remains showed to the DT witness she decomposed while resting on her left side? and yet her skull wasnt documented as found in that postion?) just the DT trying to set up reasonable doubt as to the SA's theory. Not a very good job of it, but if the DT is doing what I think they are, then they have to do this. This is a DP case.

ALL my Speculation about DT this morning so far.

They showed the photos on the feed I'm watching. One was a picture of a very small area with many things strewn around it -- I don't want to guess what that was. The other was a picture of a larger area, staked out in some way, with no vegetation.

Sims is showing Bock a photograph from remains scene that's blown up and mounted on poster board

DS does not know where the Exhibit # is, oh my.

This lady could not have been at the recovery site until well after Caylee was already at the Medical Examiner's could she?

hahahaha! she (Bock) accidentally said "crime scene" which is EXACTLY what it was!!! It is infuriating to hear "discovery/recovery" scene!!!!! You can totally see that she was coached by Baez.......

Dr. Jane Bock - 30-40 years teaching botany, PhD in Botany, written 80 peer reviewed papers, 3 books and edited 1, multiple associations professional, given testimony forensic botanist re: remains moved from one place to another....no objections to her admitted as an expert witness in forensic botany.

items reviewed photos taken by ME and SO, visited the discovery scene, read several printed docs concerning case - reivew ME report, description of recovery site in Welch's report, read report of forensic botanist...visited scene 2/1/09 didn't take photos - Patrick McKenna was with her and he took pics of the crimes ...not crimes ....recovery site....large picture board being held up to her...

this is one of the pic Pat. McKenna took while she was @ recovery scene - received in evidence - publish

JA suggests lavallier mikes

"Recovery scene" = Ms. Bock's kinder, gentle way of saying where Caylee's lifeless little body was disposed of like trash.

I had a professor once who spoke in a mono tone as Dr Bock does. I fell asleep more than once, but managed to pass the course.
