You don't need to have a license for a gun here in FL. If it's a concealed weapon, no license is required unless it's a long gun.

I'm confused with your post How can you get a a concealed weapon "license" for a long gun which by nature can't easily be concealed?

[emoji15] yeah, it might have been a few moons ago...lol.
But I know the conceal carry classes are a recent development. And complaints about sitting around for half a day waiting for paperwork when purchasing. IDK. Since everyone is freaking out about the govt taking arms away, I ought to go check it out...lol

In MO it's an 8 hour class of "classroom" educating and range shooting. If you pass, at the end of the class/day you receive the paperwork required to take down to Police Headquarters showing you've met the qualifications. You get fingerprinted, photo for license taken, etc. They also run a background check on you before issuing. Our guns don't have to be registered though. You may have to wait to receive your notification in the mail to go back down and finalize the licensing/permit process. In MO the law went into effect to issue licenses to Conceal/Carry in (I believe 2003). I and a few of my family members received permits as soon as it passed. My kids received their's as soon as they were of age. Thank God they were level headed, responsible, law abiding, and safety conscious even at 21 (since then the age requirement dropped to 19 - could be scary).

Yep AZ/DEX, I am really out of date, and currently reading MO gun laws are loosey goosey, some of the the most lenient in the country. Looks like they now submit fingerprints for conceal permit.

From what I recall, background checks and fingerprinting were always part of the procedure.

This thread has totally derailed.

Please steer it back on the tracks. Don't quote and respond to any more gun permit type posts or I will have to remove the whole exchange.

Thanks

ETA: funny how smug and self-satisfied MS looked while running the gauntlet of media and on the elevator. Catch the ramrod posture?

Ah, MS forced out into the public eye! Bet he absolutely hated that. And the very nerve of anyone saying the girls needed to be removed from his care! He was seething, IMO.

Absolutely cannot wait for the continuation of this hearing on Monday!

MOO

I'm sure all of you are like me and can't get the arguably two most impacted victims of these evil plans off your minds: the children.
Please let's take, as a cooperative group, a moment of silence for those two girls as they face this week. It could be the a HUGE week (hopefully) for this case and the girls must be confused and afraid of their future. Where we will go? What will happen to dad? (I hate that word for MS... real dads don't orchestrate the very brutal murder of his children's mother, obviously).
Here is my point- let's all pledge to do what we each individually do (I pray, you might meditate, etc) to send goodness and light to the girls as they face this coming week. Whatever you do to ask for protection, comfort, and peace, please channel that directly to the girls tonight, tomorrow and as the coming weeks unfold. I personally hope TS's family take the girls but I don't know what is actually best for them. There may be a family friend (non sex offended, hopefully :/) that might be the actual right fit for them. I don't know. But I DO believe a Higher Power does know what's best for them and I propose we as a group ask for the best for the girls.
I truly believe in the power of MANY and we as a group are many.
Let's pledge to do what we can... possibly the most powerful thing of all- and pray (I use that word- you might use another) for the girls that from this point forward, ALL of the right circumstances fall into place for the two most innocent and impressionable ones in this tragic scenario.
Thanks for hearing me out.

ETA- maybe just a "thanks" to this post will serve as a pledge to send your love, light and goodness to girls. My heart breaks for them. There is power in numbers- of this I am convinced.
<modsnip> I trust those who are willing to join me will stumble upon this post and come into agreement to join those of us who will pledge to pray etc specifically for the safety and well being of the girls in the coming days.

I hope that judge decides to err on the side of caution and removes the girls from MS's care. I also hope that judge looks at the big picture and chooses to place the girls with Teresa's family. The girls deserve a long term stable plan for the future. I don't want to see them bounced around until MS is finally arrested.

BBM- I just keep thinking it will be any day now. I actually thought it was going to be this past weekend (I'm posting during one of my regular 2:30 am wakening so it is technically Monday morning[emoji4]) I just don't think SMS would use them for leverage in any way.

If it's been said already, I apologize. The hearing will be held at 1:30 pm today.

Wink news just said that there was a medical neglect report filed in November with DCF. Has anyone heard anything about this?

It was said on Friday that Mark does not need to attend this hearing, but his lawyer does? Am I remembering correctly? Do y'all think he will go anyway?

Only lawyers representing MS and TS mom & sister will appear today unless those parties choose to be there. I do wonder if TS mom & sister are there "just in case". As LE keeps them informed, concerning the girls welfare, I would think if an arrest today is likely that mom & sister are there.

Watching news Friday night, one reporter did say they had contacted TS family members (did not say which members) in CT, asking if they would be there Monday but there was 'no comment'.

I would think they would arrest him before noon saving the family and the courts time.

If they do not arrest him today I'm not so sure they will anytime soon.

Which hashtag has been used the most on Twitter by the reporters? #sievers ?
