through Wednesday. A turn toward the east-northeast and east is
expected on Thursday and Friday. On the forecast track, the center
of Milton will move across the eastern Gulf of Mexico tonight and
Wednesday, make landfall along the west-central coast of Florida
Wednesday night, and move off the east coast of Florida over the
Atlantic Ocean on Thursday.

If I enlarge the image, the center eye of the hurricane is records a wind speed of 1 km/hr. I don't know how accurate that is, but it does just emphasize what a complex phenomenon a hurricane is.

Was your experience Hurricane Iniki??? Hit Kauai in 92... pretty sure it was 92. We were there , a full year later..... almost everything was still shut down and the sense of heartbreak and despair was still with all the people.

This. It is expensive to evacuate. People don't know where to go, or how to get there. I understand this. There is a lot of poverty in Florida. People who are "invisible". Living in small, old houses, often with a disabled parent. Maybe a few young kids, in a rural area, but still within storm surge. Dogs, chickens, they just can't wrap their heads around leaving their home. Maybe they drive a 2001 Toyota Camry, gets them to the store. With bald tires, no spare.

"Seminole County had to clarify an evacuation order after issuing a wrong alert
that told the entire county to leave the area ahead of Hurricane Milton.
An evacuation order has been issued in the county exclusively for people in mobile homes,
low-lying areas
and those with special needs.
Locals panicked after receiving an alert sent by mistake that stated

This is so real. People living in cars that barely get them from one hiding spot to another. People have barriers that are insurmountable. Having this weird euphoric moment being able to top of the gas right now in our SUV after stumbling on an open gas station. Going to bed.Thinking of everyone on the west coast of Florida tonight.
