Judge Steven Hippler:

"Judge Hippler is the Administrative District Judge for the Fourth Judicial District which encompasses Ada, Boise, Elmore, and Valley Counties.

In addition to his administrative duties, he is a District Judge for Ada County where he handles felony cases and civil cases exceeding $10,000.00."

He was appointed as a District Judge for the 4th Judicial District Court in 2013. He also presides over the Ada County Mental Health Court program

Ada courthouse:
"The Boise building is much larger than the courthouse in Moscow, with bigger courtrooms, space for overflow seating and a larger security area for screening visitors. It also has protected routes for sensitive witnesses to enter and leave the courtroom — something that Judge had noted the Latah County courthouse lacked."

Sounds like it's going to be a much better venue, given there are probably going to be reporters from all over the world as well as local and national. Just managing that would be very difficult, not to mention the members of the public, and keeping witnesses and the defendant's security at a premium.

The overflow rooms means there'll be room for the press and possibly even a space for families of victims if they want to be there but need a break from the fishbowl of the courtroom.
