Are you thinking about attending the trial? I think it'll be overwhelming.
I'm thinking about it...I thought about attending both Chad and Lori Vallow Daybell's too. But then there is my job, the traffic and the getting out of bed too early that makes me say no...

ETA..I so hope the judge allows cameras though!

Trial Date. Judge H.

From post by @arielilane (TYVM:)) noting, per Jordan Smith on KXLY ----
"As it stands today, the trial will begin on June 2, 2025."
Jordan wisely acknowledged possible rescheduling.

Judge H. was appointed by the Gov'r in 2013 & was last elected in May 2022.
H's CURRENT term ends Jan 4, 2027 so cumulatively w/be ~13 yrs on the bench at end of 2026.
In 2026 will he run again or be ready to hang up his robe?

If this judge does not run for reelection but is to preside over BK's trial, the 3 MONTH (<<< predicted length) trial must BEGIN by approx'ly. when?
To avoid Thxgiving & Christmas distractions (my assumption: those holidays would be considered in scheduling, but ICBWrong) maybe Aug. 2026 at the latest?

Could pretrial proceedings continue sooo long that if Judge H. does not run again that a THIRD JUDGE would preside over BK's trial? Not a happy thought.

What other issues could be raised in motions & hearings that could result in any significant delays?

Ada County Jail Inmate Meals?
This is a bit surprising: Ada County Jail serves vegan meals to everyone:
@Balthazar Thx for your post :) w vid re Ada County Jail meal programs.

Interesting and a bit surprising to me too, so I watched vid w closed captions & read the Transcript on youtube.
Per below, Sheriff's office did not change to vegan meals for ALL inmates there, but changed to vegan meals for the inmates opting for VEGETARIAN meals.

Seems BK should be satisfied that he will continue getting vegan meals as he has received in Latah County. Well, unless he learns the cookware has previously been used to prepare meat & dairy ingredients. (a slight edit here)

Transcript for 26 sec. vid posted on youtube Feb 22, 2023:

"New dietary restrictions are
coming to inmates in the ADA
County Jail starting March 6th.
They County Sheriff's Office
says inmates currently getting
vegetarian meals will be switched
over to a vegan meal program.
Sheriff's Office says the move is
to reduce the amount of training
needed for their kitchen crew and
the amount of daily meal prep.
Dairy items will be replaced with
plant based food items and the
Sheriff's Office says program
is going to meet all state and
federal nutritional guidelines."

I am glad Judge Judge is off the case. He was in over his head. He appeared calm at times but most of the time you could see he wanted out of his courtroom away from the case. His head was spinning... Her voice was like nails on a chalk board. Speculation.

Great that he got out and hopeful that the case can now move along more smoothly. It takes a strong person to realize their limits and he did just that and did the right thing.

I dont think he could handle a certain defense attorney who will be unnamed but her initials are AT. ;)

While I dont agree with the change of venue it had to happen, supposedly. BK (again, supposedly) committed a crime in Latah County and that is where the trial should have been held. However, going forward hoping that the new judge will take control of his courtroom and not give up control to the defense. Once you give up that control, you can't get it back. Just ask, Judge J.

This is only an opinion and my thoughts.

Where in the World is Brian Kohberger?

Along w other links to official websites re this trial, here's another:

This inmate roster is "updated every 24 hours," (and shows time & date of most recent update" and shows people "housed in the Ada County jail for criminal offenses."

Search is easy-peasy: just type the first letters of last name.

As of 6:30 PM on September 13, 2024 Mountain Time, not showing BK in Ada County Jail.

Still in Latah county? Or maybe it takes some time for the rosters to update?

@arielilane posted yesterday:

Per @johnwebbtv

"Latah County Sheriff Richie Skiles texted me that Kohberger will be transferred to Ada County within 30 days."

I'm not surprised he's not been moved yet.

@Cool Cats Hi there, Sorry I haven't responded to your post yet and I haven't forgotten your post. Life has been busy lately. I've been looking at some things here and there and reading documents all the way through and watching hearings all the way through too. Sorry for the delay in responding.

The new Judge is going to have to get with the prosecution and the defense to see when they can fit those hearings in on this new Judge's schedule at Ada County.
Agree. In practice any hearings and trial date have to be cancelled given the case is immediately being transferred Assuming or hoping JJJ's scheduling order will at least be adhered to as much as possible regarding the dates though. Will be interesting to see how it pans out . I was really off the mark in thinking the case and BK wouldn't be moved until just before trial. I think because the COV arguments were centred on tainting of jury pool.

Just general thoughts bouncing off:

Re the gag order, it needs to remain or what is the point of COV; how far Boise from Moscow? Will counsel travel for pre trial hearings or zoom it. Maybe a combo of both I suppose; now the population of Boise have minimum 9 months to familiarise themselves with all the media, past and present and get on the social media train to see what the latest is. I really am sceptical that by next June, the jury pool in Ada county won't in theory be as potentially tainted as Latah County. Imo the most important work will happen in voire dire. All imoo.

I hold out high hopes for the new judge being fair and impartial re previously ordered schedule. Jmo

Things impacting objectiveness and impartiality are numerous, but 2 things we should consider.

(1) Familiarity with the case, social media and details/rumors that have run rampant since November 2022.

(2) Community trauma, which means a trauma that the community shares. Essentially, while there are 4 lives lost, there's an entire community that had a shared victimizing experience from which there is long-lasting traumatic impact.

Number 1 will likely not change no matter where the trial is held. Number 2 is more significant and way more likely to cause problems. There's a reason victims or friends/relatives of victims of a crime don't get to sit on a jury. The community of Moscow was victimized by this crime and for all intents and purposes, I consider them in the same category as friends/relatives of the victims even if they didn't know any of the victims personally. This is just based on the size of the community and likelihood for shared experience within that community, whether that's at the university (the largest employer and link to the largest portion of the population), age or experiences of themselves or their children.

Moving the trial was the only way to go in this case to avoid the bias that will stem from #2.

HA!

I can't remember my post you mention but I am sure it was a good post .... OK....great post.... LOL

The new judge's prior background as a lawyer appears to mainly pertain to cases in the medical field, but I couldn't find any good information about his history as a judge. I have read that this was going to be his first DP case, but I'm not sure if that's true.
Has anyone found out if he's been a judge on any murder trials before? If not, I wonder what the criteria may have been for selecting judge Hippler in particular. Perhaps it was scheduling/delay considerations, and he was just more available than other judges?
