YES!!!! Beth just reported today's delay "probably " related to Sam being approached by Laviolette. YES YES YES

Wow. That was amazing. That's the best JM has been to date. He said exactly everything that needed to be said.

Any reaction to Stevens asking the jury if #5 contacted any of them?

WOW... My guest on @HLNtv believes #JuanMartinez is losing the battle vs. LaViolette...

Why can't HLN be honest. JM is shredding ALV and making her look like a fool. If they were more honest I would actually watch them, but I can't stomach them saying things that obviously are not true just to be controversial.
This isn't the first trial I have watched, but I have to agree with others that it's a circus. Our justice system is so messed up - it's like they want to use so much smoke and mirrors and try to leave out that a man was brutally slaughtered and hope the jury is too stupid and watches all the tricks and forgets about Travis.
Here is what I would like to ask Pasa and KCL - I know you both feel that the jury is over the DT and their theatrics but do you notice the same thing with the gallery? I mean I know the people who are there for JA and the DT are going to "think" that the DT is proving JA was abused, but does the gallery seem to buy it? Is it as obvious as it seems that JM is proving that JA is a liar, a brutal murderer and this DT is throwing anything and everything at the fan to see what will stick?
Thanks for all of your tireless work to bring us information from your observations. You are both really appreciated.

michaelbkiefer Kirk Nurmi filed another motion for mistrial based on prosecutorial misconduct this morning. I assume that was the in-chambers topic.

michaelbkiefer In his motion, Nurmi references Martinez' attacking witnesses, signing autographs; compares the trial to a circus and the Salem Witch Trials
References attacking witnesses... really? Misconduct AGAIN?

 1. It's OK though for his expert to ignore orders not to read notes.
 2. It's OK for his experts to break court time to victimize the family.
 3. It's OK for his experts to refuse to answer questions.
 4. It's OK for the murderer he is defending to sneak things into her folders and under her behind under his watch.
 5. It's OK for his side of the Gallery to act like they are watching a circus and burst out laughing, talking, make faces and act like fools with out recourse but the family of the murder victim can not wear a ribbon.
 6. It's OK for a convicted felon to attend these proceedings, taking up seats with her and her friends and bullying spectators by running to the bailiff and tattling/lying about them...coughDonovancough.
 7. It's OK to take evidence completely out of context with every move they make but throw a fit if it's even perceived the other side is doing the same.
 8. It's OK for his expert to blurt out personal information about friends of Travis like being Anorexic, that has nothing to do with the case and everything to do with making Jodi happy. That carp is just to make Jodi happy.
 9. It's OK to bash Travis left and right including playing a phone call which the murderer recorded for the purpose of black mail or court when the victim did not know he was being recorded.

I'll shut up, I'm really sick today, I'm in a not of pain becuase my hips, I can hardly put one foot in front of the other. I probably do not even belong here but I'm so SICK of this family having to deal with this. It must be nerve racking to have one mistrial dismissed just to have another one on it's way. Same for Juan. I just want this trial to get to the penalty phase when all the control is over with and it's time for the family to face this demon and get to say what they want to say.

Katie
At the start of the trial this morning, AGAIN, Wilmott walked around the table and was texting, then placed the phone in front of Jodi, and they both sat there watching for a response. That should be against the rules. An officer needs to be sitting and watching.
Also, at least twice, Jodi kept watching in the back of the room, maybe looking for someone? Can you watch for that today?

Yes OCG, I have seen that happen a couple of times. How can that sneaky, unprofessional behavior go unnoticed ... Geesh .... :banghead:

<snipped>

I had to finally turn it off. Brian Silber was on and he literally makes me sick. They have no conscious, as long as they are paid they will say whatever but he just boggles my mind with far into la la land he goes.

btw, did you see in the interrogation tapes where jodi is sitting alone and laffing, then all of a sudden she says "i beat you.... brat!" - so creepy

I did not see that. I'll have to look for the footage. Thanks!

i'll see if i can find the time again, it was from david lohrs interrogation tapes - and she was still in her street clothes (pretty sure) so it was the first day - she also got caught trying to hide papers in her underware in her jail outfit too - and the lady cop came in and made her hand them over

It's all about ratings and conflict to get people to tune in. When I hear "we have a guest who believes ja is innocent, or JM isn't doing a good job I ignore it and don't bother to tune in. If I heard one of the talking heads say "tune in tonight while we discuss how JM is kicking Azz and taking names" I will tune in. MOO

I believe in my heart of hearts the jury has not forgotten Travis. I think that is why some look bored. They heard the DT's BS story and aren't buying it.

Except the first row, and sometimes 2nd *like yesterday* the rest of the gallery is on the side of Travis. We as the public have to sit on the same side as the defendants family. The other side is for family, friends of family, and media.
So, while it may appear the defendants side has a room full of supporters, the truth is it's usually her mother, twin, an aunt, Dono and her friend. Occasionally there may be another family member, but it's rare.

When the Defense calls yet another sidebar I hear sighs and snickers in the gallery.
It's not Juan who has made this trial a circus, it's the DT, their witnesses, and ja. MOO :)

KCL should be in the courtroom now. She was waiting for a sidebar to get in. She had real life matters to attend to and was a little late getting there.

Love this!!
One thing, the family can still wear the blue ribbons. We, the public cannot. Just wanted to clear that up.

I'm sorry you don't feel well. Can you take any pain meds to help? Hope you're better soon.

Thanks! I can look for it, no worries. I appreciate knowing it was first day. I've been trying to find time to watch them again, but so far, no luck. :)

A big FAT THANK-YOU for all of you that attend the trial proceedings and report back to us here. I so want to see that justice for Travis is done !!
It's so informative reading the first hand observations from people who are right there. Thank-you, thank-you...you are all fabulous-!!!

People, people, people! What does it matter what some pundit or talking head as to say about anything? YOU are watching the testimony and are as capable as anyone of making a determination about what you are seeing and hearing.
Actually, YOU are perhaps MORE tuned in to what a juror would be perceiving than any of the talking heads who have a formal law background.

Notice that Juan has toned down his "anger" today. Oh, he is so good at what he does, isn't he? Like he was really "mad" at Alyce last Thursday. Watch how he goes at her in such a subtle way. Making her look like the azz that she is in thinking she could put anything over on this Prosecutor.

Notice how Juan again today went straight back to Alyce's lack of education within her field? For those not familiar with the field of psychology and psychologists, no one who is anyone within the field would not have a Doctorate. Having a Doctorate within this field is the norm and anyone who does not have this level of education would not be respected by any legitimate peer. Anything they wrote would not be published in any peer-to-peer journal, unless they could be listed as a co-author with a more credentialed person.

Strange that this woman did not complete her education. But I think that lack of completion is what would have led to her conducting seminars based on the "catchy" title of "Was Snow White and abused woman?" She lacked the proper credentials to draw anyone in to hearing her speak.

I'd like to hear her questioned as to why she felt this "catchy" - and according to her testimony misleading - title was needed for her "keynote-or-not-really-keynote" addresses.

Remember the Peter Principle? About when a person reaches their highest level of incompetence? (President Richard Nixon was one of the finest examples).

Well, folks, Alyce is there. She has over reached. Juan is going to offer her an out that could possibly save her credibility for the remainder of her career.
Alyce should take the out.

Jodi Arias trial: Arias' attorneys compare trial to Salem Witch Trials, ask for ANOTHER mistrial

PHOENIX - <modsnip>
Arias’ attorney filed a second motion asking the judge to preclude any testimony regarding the weight capacity of the shelves inside Travis Alexander’s closet.
While on the stand, Arias testified she stepped on the shelves in an attempt to grab the gun she shot Alexander with.

It's totally disingenuous for ALV to pretend she's unable to look at the context of Travis' angry email when it is the result of a LIE told by St. Jodi when she's done just that--looked at an email and proclaimed JA's total innocence and sainthood.

I think the jury would be angry about her sudden helplessness, confusion and inability to string a few thoughts together and come up with an answer. It's treating the jury like morons. JMO

Thanks! I can look for it, no worries. I appreciate knowing it was first day. I've been trying to find time to watch them again, but so far, no luck. :)
There's been lots of talk about the clip and what JA said so when the WS server isn't being so hardhit by so many viewers, I will search and find it for you as it should be referenced somewhere direct.
