Her sister:

Shirley Skeek, who was 28 years old, was reported missing to the Anchorage Police Department on Jan. 2. In the original missing person's alert, police said Skeek's family had not heard from her in over two weeks and there was concern for her well-being due to a medical condition.

Troopers say human remains were found in late May at an area off of the Seward Highway near the Hope cut-off. The remains were sent to the state medical examiner and identified as Skeek using dental records.

Troopers say the medical examiner's autopsy report indicated Skeek died as a result of a homicide.

Missing Anchorage woman was killed, troopers say

Shirley Skeek was the sister-in-law of Linda Skeek — a woman whose disappearance was at the center of a murder trial in 2019.

Linda Skeek's husband, Thomas Skeek, was found not guilty of murder in connection to her disappearance after his defense argued she was alive the last time he saw her. Linda's body has never been found.

Circumstances of Disappearance - Linda was reported missing by her husband who said she hadn't been seen since New Year's Day 2016. He reported that she walked out of the residence after a verbal altercation. Linda's husband was charged and acquitted with her murder.

I am very confused. Were there 2 women missing, Linda and Shirley Skeek? It says they were sister-in-laws, so how is Shirley related to Linda's husband, recently acquitted of Linda's murder? And why was he acquitted if there was so much evidence against him? Is he also suspected in Shirley's murder? Or do I have everything wrong??
