Have you seen this child? MEGAN EMERICK

This is another of those cases that can never be solved... the murderer, a scum of society, did not have the courage to admit and say where he hid the body... that makes him a trash of a human being... and how He has already passed away, he never suffered anything and he got away with it... but I hope he is suffering the most terrible pain wherever he is...
He flies high Megan..
rest in peace

Details of Disappearance

Megan was last seen in Seward, Alaska on July 7, 1973. She was a student at the Seward Skill Center (now called the Alaska Vocational Technical Center) and was last seen walking out of a dormitory laundry room. She has never been heard from again. All of Megan's personal belongings, including her identification, were left behind. Her roommate searched for her for three days before reporting her disappearance to police.

Investigators believe the serial killer Robert Hansen may have been involved in Megan's case and in the disappearances of Mary Thill, Roxane Easland and Andrea Altiery. In 1984, he confessed to 17 murders and 30 rapes over the previous twelve years. He led authorities to the grave sites, but only twelve bodies were recovered. A map in Hansen's home had marks on it matching the locations of his victims' bodies, but there were more than 17 marks on it, suggesting he had more victims then he admitted to. Most of the women he is known to have killed were prostitutes or exotic dancers.

Hansen admitted he was in Seward the day Megan disappeared, but denied any involvement in her case. Nevertheless, police believe she was one of his victims. He died in 2014, while serving 461 years to life in prison for his crimes. A photo of him is posted with this case summary.

Megan was born and raised in Delta Junction, Alaska. She enjoyed horses, motorcycles, rock music, and fishing and hunting on the Yukon River with her family. Her mother died in 1996, but her brothers are still alive and hope for a resolution. Her case remains unsolved.

<<Circumstances of Disappearance

Megan was last seen on July 7, 1973. She went to do her laundry at the girls' dormitory at the Skill Center (now the Alaska Vocational Technical Center). Witnesses spotted her at the dorm after she finished. Megan walked out and was never seen again. She left behind all her belongings, personal effects, and ID.

Megan's roommate searched for her for 3 days before reporting her missing.

Foul play is suspected.

In 2008, serial killer Robert Hansen became a suspect in Megan's disappearance. Hansen was a pilot who abducted his victims and took them to isolated places, sometimes by car, sometimes by airplane. In 1984, Hansen confessed to killing 17 women and raping 30 others over the previous 12 years. In his confession, he detailed the crimes and later led investigators to the grave sites. They located a dozen bodies. The rest have never been found.

Maps were found in Hansen's Anchorage home. Marks on them matched the locations of the 17 bodies Hansen confessed to murdering. Two of the marks not accounted for are in the Seward and Resurrection Bay areas. It's assumed that those two marks belong to Megan and Mary Kathleen Thill.

Hansen was known to be in Seward when Megan disappeared. According to a former inmate, Hansen confessed to taking Megan to a remote cabin in the Seward area accessible only by boat, where he killed and buried her.>>
