In 2023 a woman with his last name applied for emergency conservatorship/guardianship of Paul Nika (DOB 1999). Case No. 3PA-23-00689PR. Order Appointing Guardian and Conservator approved late in 2023 and case was closed in Jan 2024. No details as to why he, as an adult, would need to be placed under guardianship as the case is a protective proceeding and under Alaska Statute is confidential except for certain documents as noted. In October Paul filed an Order of Protection against someone (not a party to the guardianship). A short term protective order was served at that time however a petition for a long term protective order was denied.
