3-year-old girl kidnapped from Birmingham birthday party; Amber Alert cites ‘extreme danger’

Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney vanished about 8:30 p.m. Saturday from Tom Brown Village public housing community in Avondale. She was outside with friends when she disappeared.

According to other children, a man and a woman in a dark SUV picked up Kamille. An 11-year-old boy said he saw a man get out of the SUV, pick up Kamille and put her in the vehicle. Police do not believe this is a custodial issue. Both of Kamille’s parents as well as her extended family are on the scene.

Thank you so much! I looked for a thread when I got home from picking up my son from a band competition & couldn't find one, but knew that she needed one! This is pretty fresh, she was taken around 8:30 & it took a couple of hours to issue the alert. I hope she is found quickly & safely and returned to her family.

You're very welcome and I am glad you posted this thread. This is just so heartbreaking. Poor darling, having fun at a birthday party, and some monster comes along and takes her. This really angers me! Children should be able to play and have fun safely!

"Police said Kamille is approximately 3 feet tall and weighs 60 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair. Kamille was last seen wearing a pink t-shirt with Minnie Mouse leopard print design, leopard prints shorts, and yellow, white, and blue hair bows.

Police said Kamille may have been abducted by a man and woman traveling in a dark-colored black or blue SUV possibly an older model Toyota 4 Runner with rims and a tan protruding bumper, according to a release.

Sunset was appx 6:17pm
So by 8:30pm it would be quite dark, yes?
She's also reportedly barefoot as her shoes were found in the parking lot.

It's ridiculous that you can't enjoy birthday festivities without being snatched.
It's also a bit worrisome that no adults seemed to witness this, only the children as the complex looks to have no fencing and a lot of streets, side streets and parking areas.....

The suspect vehicle is a blue or black SUV, possibly a Toyota 4-Runner, with rims and a “peanut butter brown” protruding bumper.

Praytor said they are treating Kamille’s disappearance as a stranger abduction but are not ruling out any scenario. “Anytime a 3-year-old is not with their parents, you consider them being in danger,’’ Praytor said.

Police said they’ve been in contact with the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service and have all available resources from the BPD on the search. “We’re pulling out all the stops to find out what happened to Kamille,” Praytor said.

To the person or people who have Kamille, Praytor said this: “We would ask you to not take this any further. You can take her to a fire station, a police station, a hospital, anywhere you can drop the child off safely so she can be returned to her family.”

Praytor said anyone who had children at the birthday part Kamille was attending, or anyone who was in the vicinity, to please let investigators know. “It’s possible some folks may not know what happened and may have seen something,’’ he said. “Anybody whose child was at the party, give us a call.”

He also said there are a lot of businesses in the area of 41st Street and Messer Airport Highway that may have surveillance cameras that recorded the suspect’s vehicle as it left the scene. “If you have video cameras on your business or house, please contact us,’’ he said. “We feel like we still have hot leads and we’re following up on those as we speak.”
