WHY? I just don't understand the motivations behind something so horrific! Lots of people are losing their jobs right now. Why is it that some snap like this? I can't imagine what made this "seemingly normal" man start with his family and just keep blowing people away! After killing his mother and girlfriend, he drove all the way to another county to kill his grandparents?! Then just random people?! This is happening much more frequently now than in the past. WTH is going on?

It does seem to be escalating. It's like some social science experiment gone wrong or something.

What a loser. I can't even type the bad name I want to call this creep. Killed a baby and his mom's dogs.

 Coward is the only word I can say about him without being banned. None of these people (and dogs) had a chance. They never knew what hit them!

And the Deputy's 4 year old son found hiding in the house. JC, how does a kid get over seeing something like this?

SAMSON, Ala. (AP) -- A man who killed 10 people in two rural Alabama counties before committing suicide had been keeping a list of those "who done him wrong," a district attorney said Wednesday.
Investigators trying figure out why Michael McLendon, 28, killed relatives and others Tuesday afternoon found the list in his home, Coffee County District Attorney Gary McAliley said. The list was made up of former employers, including a sausage plant where he suddenly quit his job last Wednesday.
"We found a list of people he worked with, people who had done him wrong," said McAliley in a brief interview outside his mother's house where the rampage begain.

More information about Michael McLendon:

- Samson Mayor Clay King said he coached McLendon in T-Ball and little league baseball, and remembered him as reserved and respectful. “He was a good kid, kind of quiet but not to the point to where it was abnormal,” King said. “He always did what he was asked to do.”

- McLendon was temporarily hired as an officer for the Samson Police Department. He lasted less than two weeks at the state police academy, however. Alan Benefield with the Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission said McLendon came to the Montgomery Police Academy on Aug, 29, 2003, but left 12 days later after failing the entrance physical exam.

- He was employed at Kelley Foods in Elba. King said he previously worked at Reliable Products in Geneva, but said it had been several years and that he had quit his job there.

- McLendon called Samson City Hall at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday and asked the clerk if a town council meeting was scheduled for later Tuesday evening. King said, according to the clerk, McLendon sounded “hurried”, but declined to speculate on what the call could have meant.

- McLendon was known to collect guns.

The Executioner Next Door: The Signs That Get Missed

A man walks into an Illinois church and opens fire, killing a pastor and wounding others.
An Alabama man goes on a shooting rampage, killing 10 people before committing suicide.
A German teen kills 15 people, including several students, teachers and a passerby, before turning his gun on himself.
The initial reactions to the killing sprees of the last few days are often ones of disbelief and bewilderment. But more often than not there were signs that were missed or not acted upon, says Dr. Keith Ablow, a forensic psychiatrist and a FOX News contributor. (more at link)

Respectfully snipped. I would put a million on it-that sorry s.o.b. was just praying there was a town hall meeting so he could have a lot of victims in one spot.
Oh man...I just want to puke

Saw this on Anderson Cooper last night! Horrific!! Now they have a 17 yr old in Germany doing the same, killing mostly girls. :((((

I would like to say, families of these volatile folks must have some inclination or sense that something is terribly wrong with these people. Life is not a video game, and their sickness needs to be treated. Time and again we are seeing this happen.
If you have any idea that a loved one needs help, don't be afraid to get the help!!NOW!!!!!!

And CUE the crappy excuses he had in his mind for doing this:

Poor guy-he was called a fatty around town, (this coming from a gal who is a good 35lbs. min. overweight and still has no plans for a shooting rampage)
Oh, and somebody reported him for not wearing ear plugs at work-surely that is cause for innocent people to die. :furious:

Tiny shooting victim recovering in Pensacola

The 3-month-old girl who survived a deadly shooting rampage Tuesday in south Alabama that left 10 others dead is in fair condition at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.

Ella Myers underwent surgery today to remove a flat, two-centimeter piece of metal shrapnel from her groin area.

“She’s a precious, precious baby caught in the crossfire of something terrible,” her grandfather, Charles Myers, said at a news conference today at the Pensacola hospital.

Dr. Stephen Kimmel, who performed the surgery today, said the metal was lodged only a few millimeters beneath the skin and was likely a ricochet, not the result of a direct hit from a bullet.

“There was a blood clot from an injury to a small vein,” he said.

The child is expected to be released from the hospital Thursday, Kimmel said.

Baby Ella improves

An infant treated in Pensacola for injuries suffered in Tuesday’s deadly shooting spree in south Alabama is in good condition.

Doctors said Thursday 3-month-old Ella Myers is expected to remain at Sacred Heart Hospital at least until Friday, hospital spokesman Mike Burke said.

Ella’s mother Andrea Myers’ and 18-month-sister, Corinne, were among the 10 people killed during Michael McLendon’s shooting spree in Samson and Geneva County, Ala.
