Circumstances of Discovery

The decomposed body of the decedent was found off Crisstown Road and Highway 216 in a rural area near Brookwood, Alabama. She was determined to be a homicide and possibly sexual assault victim.

Investigators believe the decedent may have been killed by Anthony Washington, who was convicted of murdering Sharon Williams, a Bessemer resident found in the Brookwood area, and Marilyn Copeland, a Alabaster-Pelham resident who was hitchhiking through Birmingham to Tuscaloosa. All three women were stabbed in a similar manner. Sharon's body was discarded a mile from where this decedent would later be found. The suspect died in prison.

This decedent was never identified despite extensive investigation and media coverage in 1979, leading investigators to believe that she may have been a hitchhiker or prostitute and possibly from the Jefferson County, Alabama area.

It's a long shot, but what about Alisa Francine Watson?

Here's her NamUs: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

She was last seen in Tacoma, Washington in 1972.

Alisa's age has been listed as 14 and 15. Making her 20/21 in 1979. Jane Doe is listed between 17-25. Match
Alisa was said to be 5'2. Jane Doe was 5'0-5'3. Match
Alisa's weight is listed at 115. Jane Doe is said to be 105-120. Match

There's not much on Alisa, unfortunately. There isn't even a photo for her.

Bumping. This Jane Doe has a page on the Uncovered website (LINK). Interestingly, this Jane Doe is not mentioned on the Tuscaloosa County Cold Case Unit webpage...

It's hard finding anything on this lady, who I am calling Crisstown Road Jane Doe, because of her date and geographical proximity to Alabama's "Miss X" or Romulus Jane Doe (1982). Doe Network states the coverage of her discovery and efforts to identify her was "extensive" at the time she was found. Unidentified Wiki has a screenshot of a newspaper article about her but I no longer have a subscription to Ancestry's Newspapers website.

If Anthony Washington really did kill this Jane Doe, then he meets the qualifications of being a serial killer, which is huge. I assume they did get viable DNA? MOO.
