JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who has not been heard from since the early hours of Saturday morning.

William McNair Jr., 33, was last seen at the 800 block of Brandon Road in Bessemer. His vehicle was located in that area and authorities do not suspect foul play at this time.

McNair is 6-foot-1 and weighs 200 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.

UPDATE: Kayakers find body in Valley Creek

To Note:
•a body found by two kayakers in Valley Creek on Mon, May 31 around 6pm
•LE tried to recover the body, but due to the extremely rugged terrain in the area they were unable to safely remove it in the dark.
•Around 6:30 a.m., June 1, deputies along with Concord Fire and Rescue personnel, were able to resume recovery efforts
•a positive identification has not yet been made, but the body is that of a white male


•William “Jake” McNair Jr. was last seen on May 29 in the 800 block of Brandon Road in Bessemer.
•His truck was found by Valley Creek on private property with his cooler and other items he normally would not leave behind
