Brit's Family to Wasser: Come Back

TMZ has learned disso queen Laura Wasser paid a secret visit at the UCLA psych ward last Tuesday, and the family wants Laura back as Brit's custody attorney.

Wasser, who repped Brit in the divorce, quit the case -- we're told because Britney wouldn't listen to her. But sources say Jamie and Lynne want her back.

This part is good: quote:

People at UCLA say Britney "lit up" when she saw Wasser. But there's a hitch -- we're told the deal will be sealed Only if Britney doesn't fight the conservatorship.

That's a good deal. Wasser will be good for Britney.

The latest:

We're told that today's hearing with Jamie's lawyers and Brit's co-conservator is over, but court spokesman Allan Parachini tells TMZ, "Everything about this matter is sealed" -- and cannot disclose even why they are in court.

We have learned, however, that a motion filed today by Spears' conservator was unopposed

This is grrrrreat news. "unopposed".

Life of Britney Spears, Like That of Anna Nicole Smith, in Ruins

She is said to be battling bipolar disorder and substance abuse. Her career has gone up in smoke. She's embroiled in a legal fight for custody of her two small sons. And she has temporarily lost control of her multimillion-dollar fortune.

If there were a poster child for a life in shambles, Britney Spears would be it.

But she wouldn't be the first. Friday marks one year since Anna Nicole Smith died of an accidental prescription drug overdose in a Florida hotel room. Eerily, and potentially tragically, Spears — despite her wealth — seems to be heading down a similar path riddled with similar pitfalls.

Gosh. tomorrow (today, here) is a year her poor heart gave out. :(

wake up Britney. before it's horribly too late to see your sons grow up! :(

If the court found that she was not able to have custody of her sons because she can not care for them properly, then it shuld be a peice of cake to say then she is not capable at present of caring for herself properly. Many times the bipolar symptoms do not errupt so drastically unless the individual is trying to self medicate with illegal drugs and alcohol. And that is a huge problem for bipolar patients to cope with once out on there own again. I am so happy her family has been able to back off the hangers on and scum like Lufti. It looks like she has a decent shot at this if she is able to do as she is told and left alone by Lufti and his crew.
HOW DARE LUFTI GIVE HER ANYTHING AND HOW DARE HE CALL IT A COCKTAIL. It was probably alcohol and drugs and when he didn't see the results he wanted , Brit in a stupor, he would change it up. I hope they get this guy on criminal charges for all he has done to her. JMHO

I really hope she gets the help she needs, and she is able with time and healing to see her children again. She has enough money to retire and live a quiet out of the way life. I hope she realizes and takes advantage of it. I would love to buy a big house in the middle of nowhere and just be with my family.

I agree with you! I think that she went back to business as usual proves that she's no better off now than a few days ago. I just don't know what the cycle of taking her away, keeping her a couple of days and releasing her only to pick her up again a few days later is going to help. It seems to me that the on-again/off-again med situation alone would be dangerous to her system. I don't see any easy answers here. I guess we've got to accept the fact that being crazy isn't against the law.

My point! What I have bolded here is what I have been trying to explain- thanks for getting it across so much better than I! :)

Mental health laws need to be revamped- period!

OK, now I have had it. I do not have the money or influence that perhaps her folks do, I don't have people. But I would hire ex CIA type people to somehow whisk her away without the press knowing and hide her away, far from LA, some secret island perhaps. I know, I read a lot of novels where this happens - but nothing else seems to be working. She could have medical personnel treat, feed, nourish physically and mentally. Parents would not be able to visit lest she be found but would have updates of her condition. Not legal perhaps but maybe effective???

Sounds perfect!!!

Because that's the ONE thing Britney cares about - getting to visit with her kid's again. I don't think there is any illusion that she will get even shared custody in the near future, but visitation in a therapeutic setting.

You have a great point!! If she can see a light at the end of the tunnel perhaps she will enter it...

Doesn't Lufti remind you of Howard K Stern???

There has to be some fancy private "sanatarium" they can ship her off to. I'm just baffled as to how they can not find enough reason to hold her for the full 14 days.It just wasn't that difficult when I worked in psych in California, unless you aren't really crazy. Again I believe its because of who she is.
Maybe somebody who has been in the system can help me on this, has it changed? After the 72 hour hold,if a patient refused to sign in voluntarily, they had a 14 day hold hearing. They would need two psyciatrists to evaluate the patient as to their condition,as well as feedback from staff in the hospital. I was an Occupational Therapist. Part of my job was to run small groups with the patients in the ICU part of the psych hospital. You could gage where someone was at ,by how they performed or did not perform tasks. How was their concentration, how did they follow directions, how do they interact with others in the group, did they refuse to participate at all. Believe me when you are acutly mentally ill,you have difficulty doing the smallest of things. Not everyone says they are going to hurt themselves or others, but the catch is the gravely disabled. Can they take care of themselves? I suspect that Brittany is being treated differently because of who she is,period.

When I awoke in ICU for suicide attempts there would just be a "sitter" in the room. The ICU was just a regular medical unit, not in a Psych ward. They would get you medically fit then Psych would interview and transfer you. So I don't know how it works where you were.

Usually this is how it would work where I'd land. If it was a suicide attempt, plan on being held for 14 to 30 days, suicidal thoughts, 1 week. Erratic behavior (manic, etc), a quickie 72 hour hold. If you refuse meds and/or groups you'll just end up staying longer and not be able to go out to smoke while there.

The whole evaluation process can be quite a joke because people who have been in Psych wards before learn how to play the system. We know what the shrinks want to hear and we learned a long time ago to just go along with it. We may be "crazy", but we are quite creative.

I have to say, I just LOVE what her dad is doing! I think it is perfect how he is getting around the fact that he cannot have her commited to a hospital!

I have a lot of respect for Britney's parents and the obvious love they have for their child! They can't force her to get well but they can make sure they don't sit back and simply watch her die!

Every person with a mental illness should have people that love them this much. Every person with a mental illness should have someone that will always love them no matter how they destroy themselves! I think that if Britney's parent keep this up and get her the hell out of Cali. she may be OK.

Godspeed, Brit!

Thank you OneLostGrl, for your sharing of your own personal experiences.
It has made alot of these " Brittany episodes " more easily understood.
I appreciate all of your great informative posts!
I hope that you're doing well.

Many thanks!:)

I think of all the things I could do with my family if I had just 1/2 of her money. We could buy a new house, and take out kids to wonderful and cool places around the world with no worries.

I just wish she could see how much good she could do with who she is and what she has. She could give donations to organizations that are near and dear to her heart. Use her money for good. Bring her boys into this saying, just because we have money, it doesn't mean we cant help others.
But she hasn't yet realized she can do that, because driving her new car around LA the same day she got out of the hospital is a big yell of HELLO!, I don't see her changing.

DH says she is a spoiled little girl, who is out for her, and he could never see her doing anything with what she has to help others.

Yes wouldn't that be great having just a small % of her fortune?

She doesn't realize how much she's been blessed!
That's obvious in her care or in the lack of care of her she gave to her 2 beautiful little boys.

I'm with you, I hope she wises up and sees the light before it's all too late.

Some never see how much they have until it's all gone. :(
