BBM I think that is the part that bothered me as well. I just wanted to hear some compassion, concern, reassurance to a girl who was obviously scared, in fear for her life. I'm sure technically the operator did her job. I can't find fault in that. The police did arrive....just hurt to not hear the human element of compassion in the response.

If you start get emotional in the 911 operator type of job, you will burn out very quickly.

Also stated on our local news here in Cleveland is that there were a minimum of 5 pregnancies that were terminated with extreme beatings once the men found out.... How absolutely horrifying. I simply have no words!

No snark intended but LE wouldn't be looking for minor infringements, they would be looking for the obvious, abducted children, secret passages/dungeons in basements anything that looks suspicious such as say chains attached to basement walls as an example. The paperwork wouldn't involve any more paper work then what the fire department does for business (not sure about the states but they do it here in Canada). Firemen go from business to business and check to see that businesses follows fire regulations/codes and has working fire extinguishers. It is called preventative measures. IMO it would cheaper to do this then spend billions of dollars on trials and housing these in prison for the rest of their pathetic lives. Not to mention the cost of rehabilitating the victims and paying out compensation money to the victims. Which I believe they rightfully deserve. All the need is a plan and checklist of where they search. If no one is home, they need to go back until the person is home. If people knew they may have LE randomly show up at their door for a search, they wouldn't pull off this type of sickening crime. Off course JMHO.

Randomly showing up to search a home is not going to happen here in the US because of our Constitution.
While most people with nothing to hide would welcome a search in the case of a missing child there are those who just don't want the "government" intrusion. So legally all LE can do is go door to door and question the residence but they can not just enter the home.

I deal with trauma daily in my line of work. If I lost my emotional connection to people, my compassion, I would immediatly find another line of work. I owe the "human element" as well as medical expertise to my patients. Honestly, I find no fault in her technical support. She did her job technically well.

We also know that, when Ramsey had the chance to ignore cries for help and continue minding his own business, he chose to help a stranger who appeared to be in trouble.

A Cleveland police official giving an early-morning interview today said Amanda Berry's the real hero.

Granted, Amanda Berry is a survivor, and it was heroic for her to take the opportunity to cry out for help.

But if Charles Ramsey had choosen to keep walking – as so many of us do when we see trouble – then those women might still be in captivity today.

He might not look the part, but at least three women and a 6-year-old girl are thankful he played the part.

He's not Denzel or Snipes or The Rock.

Charles Ramsey is a real hero.

I live locally and our local stations are playing nothing but live reporting of this miracle. I've heard the 911 call probably 100 times today at work and two things that I noticed. First, it is obvious she had access to a tv because she says she's been on the news for ten year. Second, she knew her address! I know that's not that important but I wonder how....

BBM This is just the tip of the iceberg. I agree with other posters, there are more women who have been held.

I agree, I just don't see these 3 men only taking 3 women and being good enough to conceal all 3 for 11 years- I believe wholeheartedly there are other women.

If LE saw minor infringements then most would feel obligated to report it. You can't just ignore illegal happens and just look for kidnapped choices. Which btw is rare. Can you imagine the man power that would take to search every home in the US? It would not be cheaper than trials. It would also more than likely do nothing for victims like these, and would definitely invade privacy which our forefathers absolutely thought was important enough to make laws about.
