He had changed his name to Drew Grant, and had served yet another lengthy prison sentence in the meantime. He and another car with 3 people in it collided head-on; the conditions of the other car's occupants are unknown except that as of now, they are all still alive.

If you don't remember, he and a friend (they were aged 11 and 12 at the time) pulled the fire alarm and then shot people as they came out of the school. They killed 4 classmates and a teacher who was also pregnant, but this was before fetal homicide laws were placed in effect. This happened in 1998.

This really hits home, because in recent weeks, a 13-year-old who tried to do something similar in my area was put on trial, and he will be going away for a long time. His parents are about to be put on trial as well, because his father was a convicted felon and should not have had firearms.

"Mitchell Scott Johnson (born August 11, 1984) and Andrew Douglas Golden (May 25, 1986 – July 27, 2019) are former middle school students and the 13 and 11 year old perpetrators, respectively, of the massacre on March 24, 1998, at Westside Middle School in unincorporated Craighead County, Arkansas near the city of Jonesboro.[1] Johnson and Golden fatally shot four students and a teacher with multiple weapons, and both were arrested when they attempted to flee the scene. Ten others were wounded in the shooting. Both Golden and Johnson were charged with the five murders and 10 injuries that were caused by the shooting, and were imprisoned until each turned 21 years of age. After the University of Texas tower shooting (which left 17 dead) and together with the Stockton schoolyard shooting and the University of Iowa shooting (both of which left five dead), the massacre was the second deadliest school shooting[2] in recent U.S. history until the April 1999 Columbine High School massacre...."

I was a student at the University of Iowa when that shooting took place, in the fall of 1991. Didn't know any of the victims, but it was a very traumatic incident anyway. A book was written about it, called "Deadly Schoolarship."

I had also heard that the mother of one of those boys was one of those people who corresponded with and regularly sent money to prisoners.

It is being reported the driver of the truck has also passed away.

Also the husband of the teacher he murdered had this statement:
Mitch Wright, the husband of Shannon, offered his condolences to Golden’s family in a comment sent to KAIT.

“The news of Andrew Golden’s death today fills our family with mixed emotions as I’m sure it does with the other families and students of the Westside shooting. Mostly sadness. Sadness for his wife and son, sadness that they too will feel the loss that we have felt. To his family, we are so sorry for your loss. We are praying that his wife and child will make a full recovery,” he said in his comment sent to the local station.

I'm curious if his wife knew of his past?

The truck was responsible for driving into the oncoming lane, so it appears Golden was not at fault in the crash.
