Nineteen-year-old Adline King, of Blytheville, Ark., died at a hospital Sunday due to gunshot wounds after a shooting Saturday night that also left 11 other people injured, including two children.

An estimated 200 people showed up at the Great River Medical Center where some of the victims were taken. Local police called the scene “chaotic and emotional,” and said that a fight also broke out there. They had to call on state police and nearby sheriff’s deputies to deal with crowd control.

Thanks to the magic of Social Media. It is crazy the way kids can get messages sent instantly among themselves. Hundreds at a time can be notified of something. And suddenly 300 people will appear at the same place. It is great if it is to do a Flash dance or something fun. But if it is a negative thing then it is scary, imo.

As connected as everyone is these days, you would think someone would be able to identify the shooter. But law enforcement there is literally begging the community to help them identify the shooter so he can be arrested. I just don't understand the notion of protecting criminals in this way.

"Blytheville is still worth saving, but we need to the community to help. Blytheville Police Department can't do it by themselves. The prosecutor's office cannot do it by themselves. We need the community. We need your help with any information that you have. Come forward. Let us know. It doesn't make sense that you can have so many people at the function and no one knows anything," Chickasawba District Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Curtis Walker said.


"Community, we need your help. We need to know who the people are that are shooting the guns. We need to know who the people are that committed this murder last night. We need you to come forward. Officers tell me all the time there will be sixty or seventy people on the scene by the time we get there and we can get one or two people to make a statement. That's not satisfactory. This community, you need to come forward and help the police department do their job. If you want a safe community, you must help the police department protect your community," Ellington added.


"We need your help. We can complain about the police department and the prosecutor's office, but if we're not going to do our part as a community, there is no point in complaining. We ask, we are pleading...." Walker added.

"It's time for the community to do your part and step in and to help us rid this city of the violent crimes that's going on," Ellington said.

Wow, it has a crime rate of 88 per 1,000 residents.

I think this one incident may have doubled that for this year.
