I wonder if Mr. Silvers actually made the trip to Malvern? He was sick with cancer, so I doubt he was looking for a job? Was the Stepson truly concerned or did he just dump him out and say good luck? I wonder if there was life insurance involved or other financial means at stake? I'm fairly certain Mr. Silvers is no longer alive after all this time. Lots of places to dispose of remains between Russellville and Malvern. Or maybe Mr. Silvers asked for a mercy killing to end his pain? I hope he can rest in peace now.

I thought that was strange too...the Pope County Sheriff page is the only place I saw about Mr. Silver having cancer diagnosis.
