Teen Missing from Searcy County

Kira was last seen in Harriet, Arkansas.

The Sheriff says she went for a walk and disappeared.

MARSHALL, Ark. (KY3) - Authorities in Searcy County are searching for a teenage girl who disappeared this weekend.

Sheriff Joey Pruitt says Kira Jewell,14, was last seen at her home near Marshall on Saturday afternoon. Pruitt says Kira told her mother that she was going for a walk and never returned.

Investigators say she was last seen wearing a blue tank top, black shorts and glasses.

Search for missing Searcy County girl still on

Pruitt said Sunday morning that his deputies and Arkansas State Police had been searching for the girl all night Saturday into Sunday.

By that afternoon, he said the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, National Park Service and FBI agents had joined in the search

Some of those agents are social media forensics specialists, Pruitt said, because Jewell&#8217;s parents feared she might have made arrangements to meet with someone via the internet.

&#8220;That&#8217;s a distinct possibility,&#8221; Pruitt said. &#8220;But did she meet with who she thought she was meeting?&#8221;

But Pruitt also said nothing has been ruled out. He estimated between 75 and 100 officers and agents were on scene in Searcy County by Monday searching the entire area and checking everything from random tips to motel records.
