I am very excited to say that I have received a response from Morgan's mom to my email of yesterday which I am posting verbatim. Since I have established contact, if any of you have questions that need to be answered please list them and I will email her back
That myspace photo is startling in resemblance...I will attempt to email that Morgan and get some information as soon as I'm done posting here..
I have also attached a crimeline that is known of James Deveggio, unfortunately it does not have geographical information of his whereabouts, and only deals in crimes that are known. Also, it lists that he RAPED JAYCEE DUGARD??? WTH? Where did this info come from? He raped a little girl that was kidnapped later? Is it the same Jaycee Dugard? Does anyone have information regarding that?

My email response:

Hello...I am a member of websleuths and I have just started a thread for Morgan in the COLD CASE section hoping to generate more discussion and info. There is a rabid group of us that do timelines, geographic locations, etc. of now known predators, serial killers, etc.
The threads that Morgan appears in at websleuths give very little current information.
If you would be so kind to answer a few questions that I will immediately post to the thread...
1. I have read in other places that a "witness" has stated that they saw a man talking to Morgan along with other children ..is this true? If true, is that man's description available or is it the same as the composite shown? Yes there was a witness that saw a man talking to the children. The description is the same as the composite shown. The only composite that is considered viable is the one currently on Morgan's missing poster @ missingkids.com
2. How close is this area to mountains, camp grounds? Very mountainous in this region. Can check out google earth if you want to.
3. Is it true the composite in Morgans case is really from an attempted abduction that occurred before Morgans abduction? No.
4. Is there any other information available besides whats on the doe network, charley project? Not sure what is on those sites.
5. Have there been any viable suspects but not enough evidence? Never a primary suspect.

Thank you so much for your time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Morgan has always been in my thoughts and I'd like to get discussion going again on her case on the site...

Here is a crimeline link for James...Please read the parts about Jaycee. It's also interesting to note that most of his known crimes took place in a van and the kidnapper of Morgan had a "camper". Please add your questions so that I can place them all in my next email to morgans mom...I really feel that we can get something going in this case if we put our minds into it.

If somebody could do a side by side that would be great.

Just wanted to give everyone a more detailed description of Alma Arkansas and it's location, population, etc...

Alma is a city in Crawford County in the western part of the U.S. state of Arkansas, along I-40 about 13 miles from the Oklahoma border (So, could be looking for Oklahoma predator)
city has a total area of 5.0 square miles
Interstates 40 and 540, as well as U.S. Routes 64 and 71, pass through the city.
As of the censusof 2000, there were 4,160 people

Okay, so what I'm getting is that this is a vERY small rural area, a place where a stranger would get looks, or be out of place. I would think in a town of 4000, pretty much everyone would know each other, particularly the ones that go to the ball diamonds.
The town is basically a thouroughfare for the interstates.

Morgan Nick is the ONLY child abduction that has happened in Arkansas by a stranger!

I believe this person is NOT local, used the interstate as a quick getaway, and snatching a 6 year old girl is not something a person does once...they keep going. I'm thinking we need to be concentrating on known predators and killers in the surrounding states, particularly OK, since Alma is 13 miles from there....

Ive said in other threads that I feel there are many more women involved in similar cold cases either as accomplices or as the SOLE perpetrator & for too long(for many reasons)women were dismissed & not investigated fully. The women that have been caught need to be studied & interviewed & alot of cases (like Jaycees)need to be re-investigated

TOTALLY AGREE! It infuriates me when women are always cut a deal or not punished the same way...look what they did for Carla Homolka.

Are Deveggio & Michaud still in incarcerated?

I know Deveggio is in San Quentin, death row. I'm pretty sure that Michaud is on death row also...don't know where right off hand

Thusfar, I have looked at all missing children in surrounding states of Arkansas...Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, and Kentucky so far. The ones that did come up missing in the 90's are not related to Morgans case as far as I can see.
I'm still finding it hard to believe it was a local since no one recognized him. Reports stated that the "car" had Arkansas plates, but that's not necessarily true or accurate.
The one "clue" at this point is that the abductor actually walked up to the group of children that were playing (morgan included) and spoke to them. I guess another avenue to be investigated is missing children where witnesses saw the abductor approach children first?
I have written to Morgans mom again with more questions, I am hoping to hear a reply soon.

I can remember posting several years ago that I thought John Mark Carr looks like the composite sketch.

Does anyone have a picture of John Mark Karr from the mid 90's?

Jashrema, thanks for reactivating this case here! Like you, I recall this story vividly and truly hope the family might finally get some answers...

Child serial killer, william ernest downs. Executed for kidnapping and killing 2 children, god only knows how many more. William was a South CArolina "Hillbilly" (posted above that suspenct had hillbilly accent) was free and roaming at the time of Morgan's abduction that I can see. He would have been 28 at the time of Morgans kidnapping and LE believes he was linked to at least 2 other unsolved child kidnappings, a 3 yo girl and 4 yo boy. He was convicted of kidnapping and murdering a 6 and 10 yr old. He was known to be "scraggly" and have salt and pepper in hair.

Both of these depraved animals deserve never to be let out of their cages.

There was also a case a few months prior to Morgan Nick's abduction about 20 miles west in Ft. Smith. Melissa Witt was kidnapped from a bowling alley and killed. There are many people around the River Valley that believe that this could be the same individual. Melissa' body was found north of Ozark. Morgan and her family lived in Ozark at the time of her disapperance.http://www.amw.com/fugitives/case.cfm?id=59549

News of Dugard's Recovery Brings Hope to Nick Family

http://www.kfsm.com/news/kfsm-news-rv-recovery-brings-hope,0,1323731.story

Colleen says Thursday's recovery brought her family hope that Morgan could come home again. "Our hope has never wavered. Our hope has been resolute that we would find Morgan. But when you find a child that has been stranger abducted, missing for many years, it really reinforces that we are on the right path. We are doing the right thing, that our fight is worth fighting. And it really encourages and strengthens all those people around our family that are fighting with us."

He had a 'hillbilly' accent. He is also believed to have tried abducting 2 girls from Alma and Fort Smith the next day.

According to Morgan's mom Colleen...there were NO attempted abductions around the time of Morgans disappearance. She says those staements are untrue. She says that they have had NO viable suspects, nothing...I did email her for more answers but have not heard back from her yet.
That's why William Earnest Downs interested me...he not only resembles the composite, he had the hillbilly accent ....
(I posted conversation with Colleen Nick verbatim previously)

What with Jaycee coming home..perhaps Morgan's case could be similar. Alma is nothing but rural, mountainous region. How likely would it be that a "mountain man" kidnapped Morgan to live with him? It is seeming more and more likely that this may be the case since there were no abductions before or after Morgan. Does anyone know how well the mountains were searched? Would this be similar to looking for a needle in a haystack? It just seems that the person may be "local" or familiar with area...

Honestly I had no idea that those other attempted abductions didn't actually happen. Being from the area we had always been led to believe that there were 2 others. I remember one specifically that was told on the news about a 4 year old at the laundry mat.
I believe it was someone fairly local. IMO of course. . Also, can you ask Morgan's mom if they believe he is from the area or just a drifter. Thanks!
