That was definitely Channel 10s way of saying "If you were ever thinking of helping GBC, then now is your moment....He needs 30K and we want you too". They allowed the account name, and account details be known of who you can send too....I am absolutely friggin SICKENINGLY APPALLED......yet again.

SICK SICK SICK ALL ROUND.

Channel 10's approach could be that they publicised the appeal for the girls so it's balanced to publicise the appeal to support GBC, based on the fact that at this point in time he is innocent until proven guilty. And from that point of view, if he is innocent, supporting his legal fees will bring an innocent man back to his girls.

I may have different views to the above but just saying that this could be the approach.

In response to people assuming 'the Tsv church' has been asked to donate to the GBC bail fund- this is not true. If this leaked email is authentic, it has only been sent to select
family and friends (obviously not all appreciated or shared in the idea). The members of the church were not sent this email. I think this would cause division if the church were to agree to any payment from church funds. The Waltons genuinely believe he is innocent and are trying to help him the best way they can think of IMO.

If this is the case, why did the media have it, or are they close family and friends? The barrister specializes in media avoidance, remember?

It's not up to the accused to defend their innocence it's up to the prosecution to prove their guilt. Everybody deserves the best legal team. Nobody should be special when facing criminal charges. If he has not committed the offence then there will be significant deficiencies in the evidence and the best legal team shouldn't be 'needed', it would just be more reassuring I guess. Nobody goes unrepresented in murder proceedings unless they choose to. If he's done nothing wrong then he just needs to hold his ground, cooperate and tell the truth. If you aint done anything wrong, you aint got anything to worry about. It would be no fun being on remand but they don't keep you there unless there's a pretty strong case against you.

Yes, yes.. agree. No matter how much money you have or how much people donate..doesn't guarentee you will get off.. especially if the evidence is damning.. nothing is going to change that. Not saying he is.. just MOO

Initially I was thinking that there was a possibility that GBC would be granted bail, although *DH disagrees. If the email from the Waltons is legit and there is a problem coming up with the money for legal representation, my feeling is that the bail hearing will be deferred.

*DH = Darling Heart, Dear Husband or *advertiser censored*. (It depends on how he feels on any given day). :floorlaugh:

MOO.

It really isnt that much money to raise between them if they really believe he is innocent and will be set free. They can then sell their story and gt back their investment.

What about they all get a payday loan at 200 percent interest lol

Waiting to see if Courier Mail or anyone else picks up on the email...will they or won't they??

They have but fortunately not publishing an image of it unlike CH 10.

apologies for not grabbing the link, I've looked again and no go, as I was closing the tab it said I was viewing part of the Ipad news service (paid?), I read it about 20 mins ago and at that stage it said -posted an hour ago'
hopefully someone with access will paste bits of the piece shortly

Same here Marly. I'm relying on Google alerts and the late one comes in at about 12:15am. I'm so tempted to contact Channel 10 and ask them what the go is with this email. :maddening:

sorry Bayside, didn't see your post until after I had posted.
I'm also tempted
account name - anything to arouse *Echelon*

Well the ref part you can write something in allows about 10characters so I think it might cost me 10 cents to say all I need to at 1 cent a shot lol.

I am tempted to transfer 1cent with a little message in the reference.

Good idea Bayside!

IMO, It goes to show how desparate they are, even at this very early stage.

If they can't afford $30K to make the bail hearing happen, how can they possibly afford the weeks/months of preparation for the commital hearing and trial, then the weeks/months of the actual trial?

I wonder if the current legal team are getting cold feet?

Does anyone think this apparent lack of funding will impact on how well they do their job?

A good friend of mine has a favourite saying... "A fool can ask more questions than a wise man can answer" - so I better stop asking questions and say "goodnight"!

Tomorrow will be an interesting day and I am looking forward to the next 40+ page thread on the bail hearing details (assuming it goes ahead):seeya:

A nice little acronym such as SIUYA should suffice. Five cents worth I know, but I think it would be worth it. :D

I have to say I think that email looks like a scam (like the Nigerian bank scams)- I wonder if they did in fact write it. I cannot for the life of me believe that they would ask for help like this - no one does.

I totally agree that it looks like a scam

How he feels or how you feel about him?? ;)

In the latest report it says

A clean-shaven Baden-Clay is not expected to turn up to his bail application hearing today, but sister and brother-in-law Olivia and Ian Walton wrote in an email dated Tuesday, June 19, that they had raised sufficient surety to cover the amount required should he be released on bail. It looks like they already have the amount they need for bail at least.
