If the panel rules aganst the sixty day detention, could they demand he stay in Aruba?
Or would he be completely free to leave the Island and do as he pleases?

I believe an option is to release him with the condition that he remains on the Island. In that case, where will he stay and who is responsible for his food/lodging.

What does that mean "walk away a free man"?

...or temporary free man?

This is strictly a guess and I could be way off, but if he's released it's because the judges felt there wasn't enough evidence so he would be free to do as he pleases, including leaving the island. Van der Sloot was let go and he was able to leave Aruba and travel all over the world even though he remained the only suspect in Natalee's disappearance.

If that's the case and he leaves Aruba but they uncover new evidence later on, can the FBI pick him up and have him extradited back?

Please excuse if this is much too morbid, but I have read that when sharks attack humans, they will not consume the whole body, maybe only a part or two as they are really not their choice of diet. So if this is the case, shouldn't parts not eaten wash to shore?

Very true about the sharks Neesaki, I've read & heard that from a number of sources, listed a couple of them below. I'm a scuba diver so you can bet that I've done a lot of research on sea predators, I want to know what's out there, the warning signs, precautions, and how to handle situations. Think about all the shark attack survivors, you would think that there wouldn't be many if the shark liked the taste of humans.....why then stop with just one arm or one leg?

Gardner’s friend looks for body in Aruba
.video Robyn Gardner’s friend, Christina Jones, conducts her own search in Aruba for Gardner’s body, saying that Aruban police haven’t done enough to find her and she wants to “bring justice."

Not to be rude, but it's about time one of them got off Face Book and went to see for themselves and to let the Aruban authorities know that Robyn has loved ones and they want answers.

Based on the confidence the Aruba investigators have I am confident as well this appeal will be denied and he will have to stay in custody for the 60 days.

TS indicated they are considering a charge of insurance fraud per an earlier report, in addition to the types of homicide charges available.

He has also confirmed that GG took out a 1.5 million dollar insurance policy on RG and that he was the beneficiary.

The Change of Beneficiary Form was likely investigated by the FBI and revealed to be fraudulent. Forging RG's signature is the likely way it was fraud. RG knew GG's character well enough, based on reports, that she would have never signed such a form, IMO.

It is very difficult to forge another's signature without leaving clues that it is a fake. Further, this form reportedly requires a witness. That name is probably a fake name, which the FBI may have also been able to ascertain.

This is a lot of circumstantial evidence, body or not. The fact the judge "threw the book" at GG twice - first ordering him to remain 16 days, not the usual 8, then the 60 days which is the maximum - indicates that there is confidence in that judge as well.

Such confidence wouldn't likely come from the other things we know about this case.

There is enough evidence with these insurance elements, if indeed this is the scenario we have, to get a murder conviction, IMO. The disappointing part of this is that Dutch law doesn't have hefty sentences for murder. He could be out of prison in 5 years or so. Finding the body could improve the chances of getting a longer sentence. The fact this case is in the media and a threat to tourism also improves that as well, IMO. He could even get a life sentence, and that obviously is what I am hoping for.

The 60 days gives more time for the investigators to try to wear GG down into a confession, and for the body to be discovered. No judge would overturn this if the above elements are present, especially after the JVS case.

MOO.

I find CJ's willingness to go to Aruba to look for RG to be setting an awesome example of a friend. May we all be so lucky to have such a friend. Seeing her cry in the interview today made me cry (that doesn't happen often). She is a wonderful person. My prayers are that she has success today in finding her, so that she and all close to RG can have peace and closure.

The testimony of insurance representatives and the earlier insurance policy may not be enough to hold Giordano in an Aruba prison cell any longer. Later this afternoon, his lawyer will appeal an earlier decision to keep Giordano in jail for 60 days while prosecutors mount a case against him. If the three-judge panel decides Giordano can go, the only suspect in Gardner's disappearance could be free to leave the country and return to the US.

Of course, this could be incorrect

I have no idea what I think about this case.. Every time I form an opinion based on the "facts" that we hear, they change it up and say its not true. Just minutes ago on HLN the reporter in Aruba ( he's a man, sorry can't think of his name) he said he talked to gg's lawyer and that HE, the lawyer, was the one who advised GG to call the insurance company. So, what do we know are "true" facts on this case? Will we ever be given the real facts? Does Aruba produce their evidence as public records as the US does?

As was discussed extensively on the other threads, this may depend on the currents. Currents off the south tip of Aruba carry westward.

Re: Christina Jones' report that a psychic advised her to look on land, that Robyn is buried under something:

I don't know, but so many questions:

1) wouldn't GG have to know the island quite well in order to know a good place to bury her body?
2) would something like this not require some type of tools, a shovel, etc., and where would GG get them?
3) would this type of task/endeavour not require considerable time to perform?
4) Also, GG seems so very confident that they aren't going to find her body. Why?

Also, does anyone know why there have been no search dogs brought in? Thx :)

Ink blots-are most noticeable when a ball point pen is used. In this case, when the forger's eye moves from the forgery to the original, the pen stays on the paper, but stops, then starts up again to do the next part of the letter. Each "stop" leaves a tiny dot of ball point ink, like a series of periods along the lines of the letters. The stroke following the "stop" is again heavier than the part of the line preceding the dot.

I see periods along the lines of the letters. MOO.

ETA: Also of note, there is no need for a witness on this form. So that earlier report was false (surprise.)

ETA: This came from video at below link:

I know absolutely nothing about sharks, so what effect do the currents have, do they increase the shark's likelihood to desire to consume humans?

Yeah, I'm sure.

When things are in the ocean, the direction they move might be affected by currents. So...if there were remains, where they might go, if they were in the water, might be affected by currents. And...if the currents run west away from the island...

Get it?

Is that a copy of the actual signature on Robyn Gardner's insurance form? If not, I'm not sure I get your point?

And...you see a form that doesn't require a witness, and so from that you conclude that prior reports saying that the signing was witnessed were false? Don't you think that's a little bit of a stretch in terms of a factual conclusion?

Yes it is a copy of the actual signature on Robyn Gardner's Change of Beneficiary Form. It is in the video at above link.

If the signing was witnessed, there is no proof of it on the form. Some of the Change of Beneficiary Forms online have a place for a witness to sign. This one does not.

I don't know if this has been posted..

Ann Angela, a spokeswoman for the Aruban public prosecutors office, said authorities are still trying to piece together what Giordano and Gardner were doing in the days before her disappearance, and how they were getting along. She said police have reviewed surveillance video from the hotel where they stayed, and examined images of Giordano and Gardner, but didn’t see anything unusual.

“We have the video and we don’t see anything,” Angela said.
