GVG's lawyer is just that -- his lawyer. Lawyers are charged with performing certain tasks, and that includes advocating their client's position. With lawyers on each side and a judiciary in the middle, that's supposedly how some approximation of "justice" is reached. That's the way the system works, here, there and elsewhere.
It's common to find people bashing defense lawyers. "How can you represent that person!?" < mod snip >
Baez is a good lawyer. I'd hire him in a heartbeat if I needed counsel in a case he was qualified to handle. Whether you like the results of his work or not is something perhaps you should think about as it related to the process, not the people who carried it through.
