Fiancee stands by accused Yale killer Ray Clark

The lawyer for Hromadka told ABCNews.com that she is still supporting Clark and that the results from the DNA tests ordered by the state prosecutor's office in November have still not been released. "As far as I know, they are still together," said criminal lawyer Robert Berke. "And we are waiting, just like every one else, for results [of the DNA test]."

Berke said that Hromadka has been visiting Clark in prison but is not sure how recently she has been to see him. Asked whether his client is concerned about the results of the DNA test, Berke said, "She is not worried."

It is not unusual, said Berke, for results of DNA comparisons to take months due to a backlog at the state's forensic laboratory.

According to a search warrant released today, DNA found on a lanyard that attached to Hromadka's university key card was found on a pen and a bloody sock found in the wall where Le's body was stuffed.

The search warrant claimed that because of the apparent DNA matches between Hromadka's lanyard and on the bloody socks, there was "probably cause that evidence of the crime of murder... will be found within the ... swab taken from Jennifer Hromadka."

Clark entered a not guilty plea on Jan. 26 to two charges of murder and felony murder. He is due in court again April 7.

Cops wanted fiancée’s DNA for crime scene tests

The fiancée, Jennifer Hromadka, has not been named as a suspect in the investigation. But police requested her DNA on Nov. 25 in order to determine whether it matched an unknown female DNA sample found in Clark’s apartment and on the inside of a bloody green pen at the crime scene, according to the search warrant.

Hromadka’s attorney, Robert Berke, said last week that he did not know whether Hromadka’s DNA matched any traces found in the crime scene or whether she was now considered a suspect in the case.

According to documents released in December, surveillance videos from the day Le disappeared show Hromadka meeting Clark shortly after he left 10 Amistad St. on Sept. 8, the day Le was reported missing. After sitting at a table on the corner of Congress Avenue and Cedar Street, Clark entered a nearby café and left a few minutes later with Hromadka, also a Yale lab technician, and an unidentified woman. The three left for Clark’s apartment in a 1999 red Ford Taurus. Police later searched the Taurus and found parts of the car stained with blood.

Clark, whose job as a Yale animal lab technician has been suspended, is being held on a $3 million bond the MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution in Suffield, Conn. His next court date is scheduled for April 7.

Clark's car to be returned

Raymond Clark III, who is charged with the murder of Annie Le GRD '13, appeared in court today as New Haven Superior Court Judge Roland Fasano ruled in favor of his attorneys' request to return Clark’s seized car.

Still, the prosecution can use secondary evidence, such as photographs of Clark’s red 2000 Ford Mustang, said John Waddock, the state prosecutor handling the case.

“We don’t believe there is anything that has been found or connected to that car that has anything to do with the allegations,” Lopez said Tuesday.

The next pre-trial court date is set for May 5. Clark is being held on $3 million bond.

Judge Roland Fasano on Wednesday ordered the release of a red 2004 Ford Mustang belonging to murder suspect Ray Clark. The car had been seized by police investigating the death of Annie Le.

In a brief court proceeding in New Haven Superior Court on Church Street on Wednesday afternoon, Judge Fasano granted a defense motion to have the car returned to Clark’s family.

Clark sat between his attorneys during the brief hearing. He wore orange coveralls, handcuffs, and leg chains.

The prosecuting attorney, John Waddock, told Judge Fasano that the state had no objection to the car being released.

Clark’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 5 at 10 a.m.
