I think we should not be bashing the family members this much. The fact that someone is trying to promote themselves in their business environment doesn't make them "bad or narcissistic". What do we all do when we prepare a Resume? We try and sell ourselves! That doesn't make us narcissistic. I don't know either of the families or anybody close to them. I believe we should stick to the case.

Speaking of good ol' Nigel Clay, he and Gerard's mother Elaine, changed their name by deed poll after they were married to 'Baden-Clay'.


ETA: also interesting is that Nigel's sister Gillian married their cousin William Clay!

Earlier in the family history, the famous Baden-powell's grandfather (i think it was grandfather) married his first cousin. And the family name was actually Powell but when Robert Baden-Powell's father died (his first name was Baden) his mother changed all of their surnames to Baden-Powell. So the Baden part was actually a Christian name.

Hi all, another first time poster here. What an incredible mystery this is- so many questions, so few explanations- that we know of, and such a dreadful crime.

I just wanted to mention that I just checked the facebook page of GBCs brother-in-law as I found his comments the other day intriguing to say the least. The comment that stated worse was yet to come I found shocking and interesting. There are now no posts from 2012. All deleted. Interesting again. I'd love to reread what he wrote.

Keep up the good work friends. I hope an arrest is imminent.

The sister and her husband have restricted access to their page so only their friends can see it. They did that because they are friends of friends of mine and I couldn't sit by and have people pick apart everything they wrote and make spurious allegations against them. I texted my friend and told them they should restrict access to their Facebook pages. If I was in the same situation, I would have wanted someone to do that for me.

If my family was involved in anything that garners media attention, restricting access via social media is the first thing I would do because people just make stuff up. They are in a terrible situation of having three nieces who are traumatised and a brother under suspicion. They don't deserve to be dragged into this. But they should be able to thank their friends for the support they're offering without it being torn apart.

Oh I see...when googling their name, different websites were coming up. One of which was about a house for sale with the contact details as Nigel and Elaine Baden Clay. At first it looked like they were the owners but they're just the agent contacts

As a resident of 4069, my initial thoughts when hearing of ABC going missing on her 10pm walk were "oh god, there could be a rapist/murderer in the area"... but even when the missing person became a murder enquiry we have still never been warned to take extra care in the area.
I think that in itself is a very clear message - unless you are the wife of GBC, you have nothing to fear.

First time poster so hope this works. Just wanted to pose the question about whether those of us who have interesting and informative news from reliae sources (eg brookielocal's re hairdresser being interviewed by police post autopsy) should consider whether such postings inadvertently help GBC's legal team? I know many may think I'm being a spoil sport but I did think when I read that, that his legal team wld read that and start planning and preparing an answer when the same question was put to GBC - thus possibly undermining any advantage the QPS and DPP might have had in that regard. No offence at all to you brookielocal as I know like all of us u probably just want to get the b@@tard who did this horrendous thing. But just thought it might b worth flagging

I think you will find it is about 65% of women murdered are killed by intimate partner.

Do we have a citation for this overnight hospital/psych stay? All I've seen in the papers refers to him being examined at hospital then released.

One a side note, one good thing about this hospital visit, (whether admitted overnight or not) is that he would have had a routine physical examination conducted and recorded as standard procedure. This would have described any bruising, lacerations etc. And doctors can tell if these are old or new (bruising by colouration; cuts by stage of healing).

Of course she didn't. I am also friends with friends of hers so don't imply I have a bias one way or another.

Whoever did this deserves to be brought to justice, but the family of the perpetrator/s don't deserve to be put under suspicion or made the subject of idle gossip if they had nothing to do with it.

I totally agree - there is no indication that any of them are involved .. they may be odd /strange/different who cares that does not make the murderers

The Police are still focussing on that bloody roundabout...They are asking that if someone seen something "out of place" to contact them - Time frame is 11.30pm to 4am...What can be out of place at a roundabout and also what do they know about the time between 10pm and 11.30 and also 4am to 7.30 that they have ruled out with what we know about time last seen by GBC and Time of call to Police? Interesting...Very Interesting?

GBCs white car has a tow bar and roof racks................what if an like a canoe or surfboard was on the roof rack and was sliding off half way around roundabout...that would look as odd and 'out of place' as a sundeck chair sitting in the middle of the roundabout would for example???????
