I agree with They'll get you
It is a long way for a girl to be walking home alone at night.
This is looking very sinister, and yes maybe not a hit a run as first thought?

Exactly. 5 klms at 1 am? Please, a lesson to women out there-a member of your family will pick you up.
Men doing the same are equally at risk.
Treat everyone else like monsters and you might survive to live till old age!!

If it's true that she posted "Some Asian guy" then it narrows down the search instead of "some guy" Which could be anyone. JMOO

If that's what happened (being picked up by mystery guy), I wonder if she jumped out of the vehicle as it was moving. Wouldn't necessarily explain the "loud noise" unless he went back over her with the car. :(

Wishing her a speedy recovery.

April-lee Gillen, 17, remains in the intensive care unit at Wollongong Hospital with critical head injuries after neighbours heard a loud bang and discovered her lying unconscious on Northcliffe Drive in Lake Heights, just south of Wollongong, around 1am on Sunday.

April-lee had posted on her Facebook account a short time before she was found: "Phones on 1 per cent walking from warrawong to berks [Berkeley] and some Asian guy just stopped me telling me to come home with him cause it's safe and I need help wtf sos".

I feel like "hit and run" is misleading.. if we're to take that statement and the FB theory both at face value, it would be an abduct-hit-run. If there's a psycho out there picking up strangers and terrifying them, it's more worth noting than the possibility of someone who was driving and texting, maybe drinking, and sideswiped a pedestrian, which is along the lines of what "hit and run" implies, at least to me.

*SMH* Another person wrote on social media that neighbours had provided "vital video surveillance of the event" to police, and "this low life will be caught and sent to jail".

That is SO terrifying. What would y'all do if you saw that on your newsfeed? I wonder if any of her friends reacted to it? I'd probably call the police, I feel silly 79% of the time as it is but better silly than sorry. :(

Without blinking an eye, Id call 911

Thanks Amee :) - The page might show up again later?.

When I looked at it this morning there werent many comments or "likes" on it. A couple of people were asking who started the page. No answer to that question.
I have a feeling it wasnt run by family.
Would Police ask for it to be removed?

The message was re-posted to a Facebook page calling for justice for April-lee Gillen, and the organiser has urged people to share April-lee's status as police continue to hunt for the suspected hit-and-run driver

Police are renewing their appeal for information on a suspected hit and run near Port Kembla at the weekend.

It was just after 1am on Sunday 20 April 2014, that emergency services were called to Northcliffe Drive, near the intersection of Lake Heights Road at Lake Heights, after reports of a woman on the road.

Police found 17-year-old April-Lee Gillen lying on the roadway. She was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics for head injuries, before being taken to Wollongong Hospital.

She remains in hospital in a critical condition.

April-Lee's mother Leonie told MailOnline she has not been able to bring herself to look at her daughter's Facebook account as her relatives maintain a bedside vigil at Wollongong hospital.

'I'm just trying to concentrate on April, I've just popped out to have a shower and then I'll be back,' she said from the family home.

'I'm just trying to keep my energy levels up, it's very tough.'
