Every scenario of him getting out of car and not getting back in and walking off brings me back to the same question
Then where is he ??

It’s a very desperate situation if he’s out there alone.

Snipped but within this article right at the bottom there is another article to click "read more " vanished into night
Anyways it an article from around 5 Jan when they are discussing the first search. What's really interesting which I hadn't read before and may be an error but it stated he friends in the other car got out to help search and then drove in to cairns ?? I wonder were the police told this story at first or ?

I have so many questions from this article.
And I'll mix in with my current theory.

So 2 mates go for a road trip thru "ice city" to get money owed to fix the car and spend New Years up north qld?

But somehow get into an argument, driver storms off, mate gets into drivers seat and takes off. Then comes back after 3/4 days?

Driver no where to be found and mate looks for him for 3 days before raising alarm?

But something happened (when?) where one of them was "assisted", but where?

Where did the mate last see him? A house with a skull on the fence. Was that where the arguement happened? What were they doing there?

Let's say they drove to skull house to buy ice to sell up north on New Years. Deal went south, maybe they didn't have the money or all the money to buy the ice from the dealer in the skull house. Dealer killed driver after they tried to rip him off and mate drove off..or holding him hostage until mate comes back with rest of the money. Mate drives off, disappears for a few days freaking out. Comes up with a story so he can go back home. Has mates bank records been checked? His phone usage during the trip? Petrol usage? What was wrong with his car? What has he been doing since being back? Ur friend is missing! No posts on please help find him please please .. just don't blame me . He took off! Please. There is so much more to this story. It stinks. But most of all I really hope he is ok, safe and unharmed. Sorry I rambled but after reading that article my mind is racing

That 2nd "read more" article has some very different details from the detaiils that we have read everywhere else.
What the heck was the person in possession of Jayden's phone doing?? Sending Snapchat messages.
Trying to make others think that Jayden was lost closer to Cairns?
The police are now doing an evidence-based search, so evidently that is not true.

Senior Sergeant Cavanagh said it appeared Mr Penno-Tompsett left without his mobile phone, although other friends have reported receiving a Snapchat message from his account hours after he was last seen telling them he was nearing Cairns.

Does law enforcement have access to your Snapchat photos?
The process is a simple subpoena for documentation.
If the agency needs more, like a log of previous snapchats, they have to obtain either a state or federal search warrant.
At the far end of the privacy spectrum, Snapchat does have a system for requesting individual's records in the event of an emergency.

I hear you, Loveandpeace. Something really stinks about the whole scenario.
Jayden's mum's gut instinct is screaming out loud.
Jayden's 'mates' apparently just dumped him.
I even read somewhere that one of the people in the other car - that was apparently travelling some distance in front of them - was Jayden's cousin.

Hmm. I've read in the second article people saying they revieved snapchats, but do we know he definitely does not have his phone?

I assume either the snapchat story is false or the story of him not having his phone is false.... since the police would immediately suspect foul play otherwise. They don't seem to at this stage?

Oh yes I forgot about the other car and two other mates. Haven't heard much about them at all. Where are their concerns for their mate? I thot the snapchats were just rumours someone said in SM comments? The mothers sinking feeling gives me chills because if the current "innocent" story is correct he may no longer be with us. But if this story has more details and of course it does, then maybe the mums sinking feeling comes from knowing something that may have caused her son to be at risk. IMO

It seems he has taken off before, for weeks at a time. Doesn't communicate with anyone. I hope this is one of those times. I think he had a birthday in sept and I think he had a mate pass away days later. Maybe he's going a lot but his friends should have been there for him in the state that he was. Stuff the car stuff the money, don't leave him without his belongings. Stay with him. If you ran out of money and the car broke down, you still would of had your other mates car and phones to call home for help. The entire town is searching for him and if they all had become stuck there because Jayden had a breakdown then I believe the community there would of helped them. Something just isn't right

I am not sure what the police suspect. They are likely not going to tell us.
But they are very concerned for Jayden. Keeping up these searches, as they are. Seems they do not believe that this is about a young adult who has decided, by himself, to disappear or lay low for a while. This is a huge, prolonged effort the searchers are putting in.

The Snapchat was confirmed by Jayden’s mother on a Facebook post. None of this makes sense and I would love to know what the Evidence based evidence is. I would imagine when he went off the grid before he has had food, shelter phone etc. my gut tells me his friends know quite a lot more than they are saying. No one with a heart would ever leave a friend in an unknown location and come back three days later to find them when the whole time they had their friends belongings including medication!

Maybe the searches have been based on evidence of people's movements according to mobile phone ping data, is what I have been thinking.

The searches may also be based on evidence from the person who 'rendered assistance', if that person has been located or has come forward.

In addition, there is a good chance that others have come forward about the car's movements during the period in question. When I lived in a small town, years ago, we could easily spot when an unknown vehicle was in the area ... if the car had been seen away from the travel route/stops along the Flinders Highway.

I do find it odd that the PO haven't mentioned foul play very often, as if they think he generally wandered off? That doesn't sit right with me I think its foul play.

I thought possibly the thing about the person who rendered assistance is that the police asked the friend who drove away whether there was anybody who could corroborate his account of his movements and the friend said there was a stranger he asked for directions or something. Which would be difficult to disprove. But if there's to be a case against the friend on the basis of him lying about where he was, the police need to be able to show that they at least tried to find the stranger.

Funny how the police say they were 'seeking advice' from the person who rendered assistance.
One would have thought that the police would say they would like to speak with that person, not so much seek their advice.

Adding to the intrigue, police are asking a member of the public who “rendered assistance” to a young man in the Charters Towers area to urgently come forward.

“We are also seeking advice from a member of the community ... that afforded some assistance to either the missing person or his acquaintance. We know that it has happened and that member of the community will know exactly what they did ... that they afforded assistance most likely to the missing person’s acquaintance.”

I just noticed this:

Extensive searches of the area around Stockroute Rd, which a member of the public thought could be the mystery location, came to nothing. http://www.news.com.au/national/que...g/news-story/7397d9682404cc2df56bd0780393e9a9

So Stockroute Road might be a red herring. Strange the friend can't give even a general idea of where he last saw Jayden, other than Charters Towers area. Or not strange, as the case may be.

Jayden could be anywhere out there. It’s a big back yard and I feel he’s no longer with us.

I noticed in the video at the Servo the other guy paid for the items and handed Jayden the water. Could the disagreement been over Jayden not paying his way?
I’m hoping Jayden was carrying cash....which could have been robbed or if he was carrying cash it could mean he’s still alive somewhere.

I hope those cops forensically tested the car in case he was run over and left.

Yes, or in case he was transported dead to a better hiding place. But the car had been for repairs by the time the police knew anything about it so perhaps the affected parts were gone.

I feel like I should know this, but who's car was it?

Am assuming it was Tattersall's seeing as he put it in for repair.

Jayden was driving at the time he stopped and jumped out (I believe?), so I guess they were taking turns driving.

Jayson Hungerford, the friend who called Mr Tompsett with the news his son was missing, was clinging to the hope he was hitchhiking and unaware of the rising panic in his loved ones.

“He wouldn’t hesitate to hitchhike and all that so I’m hoping he’s just on a very long trip home.”

He too was grappling with why he had disappeared.

“I think it was just the argument with his mate and because it was his mates car I’m thinking he just didn’t want to get back in his car cause they were fighting...But it is out of character for him.”

I guess that's not conclusive because it's in the context of Mr Hungerford's speculation . . . but it's there.
