The death of Jessie Leigh Fullerton, whose body was found at Quorn overnight, has been declared a murder.
The 22-year-old's body was found next to her white four-wheel-drive about 300m from her grandparents' home, where she was living.

Ms Fullerton was a well-known Outback character and camel jockey.

Major Crime Officer-in-Charge, Detective Superintendent Grant Moyle said Ms Fullerton was at a hotel at 10.30pm last night and was on her way home when she was murdered.

"She was on her way home (which is) not far from where she was found," Major Crime Superintendent Grant Moyle said.

For anyone who is interested …. Quorn is a pretty little country town here in South Australia, lots of historic buildings, bit of a tourism hub.

Quorn has also been used in several major films, including The Shiralee, Sunday Too Far Away, Gallipoli, Wolf Creek, The Sundowners, The Lighthorsemen and most recently The Last Ride starring Hugo Weaving.

Its population is now about 1200 people, so I would think that everybody would pretty much know everybody.

If Jessie was at a local pub (there’s 4 of them apparently) it would have taken her literally minutes to get home. And her body was found within a few hours of her leaving the pub.

I just don’t understand what is going on, why these young women’s lives are just discarded, why it seems to be happening so much lately? Too many angry sickos in this beautiful country of ours.

Seems so SouthAussie, it's ridiculous at the moment.
Melbourne's had its fair share of this kind of stuff. Not good enough.

And I see that someone has edited her facebook page already, removed posts from yesterday that were there a few hours ago.

The latest article doesn't say much nor seems to have been picked up yet by other news sites... but... sounds bad and like there is more to it...

OMG .... thanks Blue Bottle ....

Man arrested for 2 counts of murder - Quorn
Major Crime Detectives have tonight arrested a 19-year-old Quorn man for two counts of murder.

Police will allege the man murdered 22-year-old Jasinta-Leigh Fullerton, also of Quorn. Her body was found at Groves Road around 3.45am today.

The man was also charged with the murder of a 16-year-old girl from Port Pirie. Her parents had reported her missing yesterday evening.

It is inappropriate to release any further details this early in the double-murder investigation, however, Major Crime Supt Grant Moyle said he is confident that the person responsible for these murders is now in police custody.

Detectives will resume their investigation and crime scene examination, which will include the excavation of a grave site, first thing tomorrow morning.

The man is expected to appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court tomorrow.

What I find upsetting is that these two girls aren't, (so far anyway), getting as swift a news coverage Australia wide, nor as extensive, as some of the more recent murder cases.

I gather by what I have read so far, that the police had some idea who was responsible and played a bit of a cat and mouse game with the bloke.

This is just so awful... two more young lives gone in such a brutal manner...

Yes well I look on Adelaide Now everyday and have not seen anything about the girl from Port Pirie missing.. I'm guessing they knew who they wanted and where he was so didn't need to alert the public for help?

I can't believe this. 4 girls gone in less than three months. Something needs to be done. Will be interesting to know the accused criminal history if any...

The Quorn man will face court today over the deaths of Quorn woman Jasinta-Leigh Fullerton, 22, and a 16-year-old Port Pirie girl, who was reported missing by her parents on Tuesday.

She posted an update on her Facebook page late on Tuesday night, about six hours before an ambulance was dispatched to the murder scene.

Wonder if the Facebook update mentioned the accused murderer? Wish I had paid more attention when I first looked, before Jessie's most recent Facebook posts were removed yesterday. Guess all will be revealed soon enough. The police seem to be moving fast on this one, as if they've pretty much got it all pieced together already.

Thanks for the links knowledgethirsty...from the adelaide now link...horrific!!

"It would appear the murder of Jessie was a result of her coming across this person with the first victim," said Det-Supt Moyle.
"It will be alleged that that is why she was murdered when she was.
"We are satisfied he was the only person involved. It's been quite an unusual course of events that have unfolded.

So he was a member of the SES? His team members would've had to deal with this... Horrible.

They were searching a house on sixth street which turns into the Quorn-Wilmington road which cemetery road turns off.. Wonder if First girl was killed at his house on sixth and taken to cemetery to hide.. Why hide one girl but not the other???
