I've made those same sorts of phone calls, or even pretend phone calls, when I've noticed a man acting sketchy when I'm out alone at night. I consider myself lucky when I think about how many times I walked home alone -- because it was such a short distance -- when I was younger. Watching that CCTV video felt so awful... it just makes me so angry. Women should be able to walk home, go for a bike ride, etc., without having to have a male escort because there are creepers waiting to snatch us!! :banghead:

Is it correct that the pizza shop is further north of hope street, past the Turkish restaurant? Why oh why didn't Gillian take refuge in the Turkish restaurant :please: :( if this is the case? Of course we have no idea what he was saying and doing by that stage so I am certainly not questioning her actions. Just so desperately sad and still wondering how this happened in this place :(

That's true, there is a website but it's not government, not sure if I can post link http://www.mako.org.au/ausnews114.html
Has link to Crimestoppers and this disclaimer -
The purpose of this website/ information is to promote public awareness/protection, prevent you and those close to you from the potential dangers posed by individuals who have committed sex offences in the past and to deter sex offenders from offending/re-offending. Thank you for that link!

I Remeber reading this morning where Jill's body was recovered in his borne, can someone link me to it or know what road it was

Very. Just up the road. Literally.

Thanks to everyone how replied. So the perp could have gone to his home first thing after the abduction, and rendezvous with others was set-up. IMO.

I don't wish to speculate further at this stage, but I was the support person for woman who survived a similar "set-up". But my own experience may be just colouring my views.

I believe the pizza shop is at 601 Sydney rd which is past Hope st, its my opinion that Jill could have been trying to get to the Police station at 630 Sydney rd

I'm in Qld and haven't had access to tv news, and have had no luck trying to catch any of the most recent bulletins online. I've tried all the station sites and had no luck with anything recent - does anyone know where I can see any of this evening's news online?

Some of the sites and Google news

Murdered Melbourne woman Jill Meagher was the sort of colleague who would bring in the cake whenever it was someone's birthday.

Smart and cheerful, the popular 29-year-old was the life of the office at the ABC radio studios in Melbourne

"She's the Irish girl that lights up a room," her boss at ABC Melbourne, Cath Hurley, said on ABC 24.

"She really stood out ahead of the pack, she was just a wonderful life force."

he has to have admitted to it IMO

The other thing that I'm wondering is how long was it before he dumped her body, if cars arrived at his home at 2am it must have been some time later.

I am eternally grateful that they found her before this rain set in. The rain today seems to mirror the sadness we all feel

I'm so grateful for this too, especially for being able to save/preserve any DNA evidence etc that will prove critical.

:waitasec: I cannot understand why there has only been one arrest and the police are saying there is only one suspect given the neighbours reports:

"... Coburg neighbour Dale Trotter said he saw at least two cars pull up outside the Coburg house at about 2am on Saturday morning."

"... Another neighbour, Trish Murray, said she noticed up to four cars outside the house on Saturday."

Also, there was the earlier report about a car doing a u-turn on Sydney Road that wasn't followed up???

Sorry if these have been raised earlier. I cannot keep up with this thread.

OK JUST REALISED WE ARE NOW DISCUSSING THAT HAHA. BEEN SPENDING TOO MUCH TIME READING NEWS REPORTS AND YOU'RE ALL LEAVING ME BEHIND.

All MOO!

Or... he may have already arranged to meet friends back at his place but after he abducted Jill, he restrained her in some way, returned home to keep his appointment with his friends and then returned to wherever he had left her.

OR.... friends may have turned up, found him not at home and left.

OK to broadcast anywhere but Victoria. So no news services will have links on their websites because they can be accessed in Vic.
This is just nothing short of being plain crazy nutsville.

So what it boils down to then is. TV in all other states except Victoria can delve into his past criminal history, show pictures, talk about it and so on. Yet they can't post it on their websites nor can any newspapers print this information up because it can be accessed by Victorians via the web.

Yet there would have been nothing stopping me from recording the news and then sending the video clips with the information about him and his previous criminal offenses to my mates and rellies in Victoria.

Unbelievable.

You'd have to wonder how many of these have actually been confirmed;

and secondly, how do we now the u turn wasnt followed up.?

All correct. Just don't record and post on YouTube or any public forum because you will be in contempt.
All details were on the news and unobscured photo.

I don't know that's why I put the "?'s"

Also, I amended my post because when I typed it, it was a bit of a dull moment for me :blushing:
