A woman is missing following a dance party in the Hunter Region, police say.

Kate Delaney, aged 23, was last seen at a small dance party in Howes Valley, west of Cessnock, about 1.45am on Monday, May 20, NSW Police said in a statement.

When Ms Delaney failed to return home, officers from North Shore Police Area Command were notified and began inquiries.

NSW Police and Ms Delaney's family hold serious concerns for her welfare as she has not been seen or heard from since.

Officers from Hunter Valley Police District have co-ordinated a land search of the area.

Ms Delaney is of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm to 175cm tall, of thin build, and with brown hair. She was last seen wearing a red sarong.

She is known to frequent Sydney's north shore.

Police are exploring the possibility she may have left the property on her own accord.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A massive search for a model who went missing after a dance party in the Hunter Valley cost a whopping $30,000 and meant police could not respond to other jobs, it has been revealed.

Kate Delaney, 23, was found at a remote property on Tuesday, almost 36 hours after she vanished from a house dance party in the Howes Valley area without her shoes or phone just before 2am on Monday.

Found shivering and a little disorientated just before midday, Ms Delaney was treated for sun exposure and taken to Singleton Hospital, where she was later released.

It's understood Ms Delaney was unaware her frantic friends had reported her missing.
