The boy's mother wrote on Instagram on Saturday it looked 'like the burns under Luka's neck and chest will scar and potentially need skin grafts', with a further surgery scheduled for Tuesday, September 3.

She added that it 'wasn't the news' she was hoping for, but was glad that 'most of his face, arms, and legs should heal very well', attached to images of the boy bandaged almost completely while in hospital.

Look at that dear sweet brave boy all bandaged up, but still playing, oh my heart!

I think a lot of his white bandaging is actually compression garments, to reduce the potential for keloid scarring. Though you can see the bandaged areas under the compression garments.

And it looks like the hot coffee splashed onto areas of his little arms and legs.

imo

How on earth do they not have this guy? He did everything but do a dance in front of the cameras and write his name and phone number on his forehead. I can't think this is a first offense for someone this nutty, so surely someone out there is familiar with him and/or his shenanigans.

It is interesting, though, that the police are not appealing for any more public help. We are getting updates about baby, but no more info from the police.

Not what clothes he changed into, not where he still may be (according to the rideshare he took to Caxton Street) .....

And the police have said they are not going to stop looking for him.

Maybe they know who he is but not where.

This Brisbane Times article says that the rideshare took the attacker from the chapel in Annerley to Caxton Street near Suncorp Stadium. (Where there appears to be public transport, pubs and bars, according to Google.)

Well, there should be a wealth of security cams there, just from the businesses and public transport hub alone.

I would hope that even his friends or family would turn him in.

Some communities are so insular that they would never turn one of their own in.
It would be treated as betrayal.
Also,
they might fear it would bring hatred to the whole community.

Nearly 30-strong specialist police team in manhunt for baby Luka’s attacker at Stones Corner

Maybe behind a paywall. Posting it here for those who subscribe.

Don't rideshare companies know the names of their passengers? I thought (where I am at least) that you had to call for a ride through their app, and you pay for the ride with a credit card. The card would have a name associated with it, of course. Maybe he used a stolen card in someone else's name... or maybe you don't have to give your name and credit card info there for some reason.

So is there no CCTV footage of him being dropped off by the driver? It says they know from the driver him or herself exactly where he was dropped off, so they would know where to look for footage. Might show where he went from there.

I would hope that if LE has already learned his name but not his whereabouts, that they would publicize this info. That would have to increase their chances of finding him, if people knew who he was and that he was wanted.

What was weather like that day? Would it be odd for someone to wear a long-sleeved, possibly flannel-type shirt with shorts outside that day? I noticed his shirt was buttoned all the way up to the top button. Might be the way he always wears it or may be concealing whatever was worn underneath? I also think he has a rather feminine-looking face, has anyone else thought that? Is it possible it is not a man, but a woman? Just speculation, all.

Yep.
He was dressed weirdly

Definitely a man.
Look at his legs.
The person's stance - with legs apart.

Not to mention,
no woman would use clothes with colours that clash until teeth ache -
I mean, dark blue and khaki green
Aaargh!!!

I don't see anything strange or odd in what he was wearing.
It was towards the end of winter, not in the middle of summer.

Yesterday was the first day of spring in Australia.
I just came home from a holiday in that area and was glad I took some parkas and jackets with me.

It wasn't what I would call anywhere near approaching hot.

It wasn't my point.

I meant strange ensemble of clothes with clashing colours.

Besides,
It was warm.
The Baby was wearing a T-shirt and his legs were bare while sitting on the blanket.
