I feel the same. It sounds more like RB and Sally did make comment a long time ago on the MB FB page that her mum wouldn not have been angry with her about it at all.
 
I was reading back over all the info shared on the MB FB page this month and I found it interesting that one of SL team mentioned:

"The advert was published 12th Dec 1994 at the end of the school year, 3 yrs before she met Blum".....

So this would bring the time up to 1997 and as SL has said before, "Marion was in a relationship with GE in 1994 and on a holiday with him in Dec 1995 " .
She also attends a wedding in Byron Bay prior to her leaving wanting GE to attend with her but he doesn't ..............so she wouldn't be replying to ads in 1994.

1997 - MdeH marries in Bali - Did DeH and RB attend this wedding? Because if so, SURELY someone would have photos of him there..?

Or was he at home doing his homework with MB?

Personally I dont think he knew Marion back in 1994 or years prior to 1997 - he woud never want to have a relationship extend that long - too many opportunites for people to see him with his victims or potentially have photographic evidence of them together.

All of the victims we have heard from tell of fast footing relationships with him, a revolving door, he does his homework and then launches.

April 1997 - MB writes first resignation letter: Luke GLOVER writes about Marion’s resignation in the school newsletter stating “ be it Pompeii or Tuscany, Marion will be forever held near & dear”. ( Announces to the world one of his teachers is heading overseas.....)

April 1997 sells her house for less than purchase price

UP until here I think she was still planning to go OS on her own with possibilities of looking for work...



THEN an AH pounces on opportunity:


May 1997 transfer of sale signed off on house : name change by deed poll : her new FNMR passport signed by her dentist : she has a date with her sister to see a show in Brisbane : moves in with her friend Lesley : SL sights MB and the tall man in her car at the Servo - someone MB tells SL she met at GC Arts Centre and the same day SL husband is abruptly told by MB to leave after spending the day helping her pack up her house.

May 1997 - MB has blood tests at QML including a Liver function test


June 1997 - MB resigns from TSS with 4 days of notice bringing forward her end date


June 17 - RB leaves Aust under the name Richard Lloyd Westbury - was it the night before that SL phoned Lesley to speak to her mother but Lesley says she thought MB was staying overnight with Sally? Did she stay with Blum to take him to the airport next morning June 17?

June 21 - MB dinner with family


June 22 - MB flies out of Australia and never seen again

IMO RB doesnt spend yrs grooming his victims, he pounces like a cat on a mouse in an instant he hears or reads about his victims.

I think RB convinced MB that Sally and family were trying to ruin her happiness, probably threatened to leave her, blamed her for her family finding out she was back in aus, could have said his life was at risk and she needed them to back off etc...its not uncommon for people to turn on their family because someone has convinced them they are the problem or have the potential to ruin their happiness ... this guys is a jerk of the highest order.
 
Listening to the latest episode, things that stood out to me: the latest witness mentioned RB said he had a job as a "bank manager", and then another witness used the phrase that he would "move back to Bali".

What if he somehow got a gig as a bank manager and that's why the money was easily accessed with no security checks?

What if he had a residence in Bali?

Just musing/my own opinion
 
Re latest episode TLV: there’s a lot to unpack but coming from a background in the Queensland education system, I’m a bit confused about one aspect that leapt out at me that does not fit the timeline. I may have misheard but I thought that SL in reading the doctor’s report said that MB was concerned about the Gonski report (re funding of education) BUT Gonski was not until 2010?! Huh? that section was read quite quickly and there were a lot of beeps but the word Gonski struck me and I knew it was from a decade later.

EDIT: Well, I went back to find the location in the podcast at roughly 52.30 and SL’s reading of the transcript does say that Dr (beep) consulted with MB several times in 1996/7 and that she was concerned about changes at TSS and talked at length about ’how the Gonski concept was going to change the system for the better’. So either the Dr is mistaken in his memory and testimony, or he consulted with MB a decade after her disappearing?

He must have done something in mid to late 96 to up and move like that when the kids were still going to the same school and stuff. So weird...

This raised Qs for me too!

Youre right Gonski did come out 2010!
It makes no sense what he said.

The only explanation I could think of was maybe he was confused with LAPLAN ? Although that was a completely different system.
Gonski was a review of the system for alternate funding models and LAPLAN was an assessment tool in literacy and numeracy of students for Yr 3, 5, 7 and 9

You‘re thinking of NAPLAN and that was also later 2008. Queensland education department central office specialist speaking here.national curriculum was causing waves in the 90s not not Gonski or NAPLAN. Even Alan Luke‘s Productive Pedagogies model (which MB would have loved!) was around 1998).
Don’t worry I’ve passed it on the TLV team as it may not be important but then again with this case who knows?

Was Gonski involved in education reform before the Gonski report of 2010? I’m a teacher here too and it’s confusing.
 
I have been listening intently (and obsessively) to the latest podcast releases. Just WOW. It's making a bit more sense as to how RB could have 'possibly' abused MB and then 'made her disappear'. RB is sinister and evil, and has made a life out of being just that. So many authorities were given evidence about this 'man' and they have failed to protect anyone. IMO - disgusting!!!

I have gone back and forth over whether DDeH was involved or not, now I believe she was involved. And so were both of the children.

I also found it very interesting that one of the witnesses on the latest podcast release saying that RB was interested in making coins look older, and there was paperwork in the 'bins' that looked like Bonds papers. It appears he is really delving/delved into the whole 'fraud' business. Is there nothing he won't lie about???????

I know in 1999 in Qld, we had introduced the statewide testing - I cannot remember what it was called, maybe the 'The Queensland Test?????" but I do remember administering it to my year 3's, 5's and 7's in that year and for the next few years. This was my first year as a teaching principal and rural Qld and that is why I remember it. Is this what they may have been talking about way back in 1997?
 
I’d love to know more about the woman he abandoned in Bali. And I hope that more women come forward. There must be so many more. Listening to the podcast again reminded me of the old message post looking for a man named Fernand Remakel. I don’t think the poster was ever identified but I believe now she was talking about RB and he may have scammed her under the Fernand Remakel identity. Does anyone else remember this bit in the catch up?
