I had wondered this too but not sure if 46 years will be too long? I was going to ask that question yesterday. Would hair survive and still give a clue? Shame they didn’t carry out the tests properly and timeously in the first place.

I know it’s been asked a few times but what became of his first 2 wives?
I recall reading on MPMB FB page that one of the first 2 wives is in contact with SL. Hopefully more details will eventually be released.

And how many other engagement notices in how many names might there be in some old overseas newspapers.

Maybe it was the done thing then to put an announcement in a paper.
It definitely was the done thing in those days. I remember as a silly teenager, I was involved in a prank where we tried unsuccessfully to put an engagement announcement in the local newspaper. Before the newspaper would accept our request they needed to have the IDs and consent of both parties so the announcement didn’t proceed to publication. I guess an ID check wouldn’t have been a barrier to AKA.

I know there is speculation here that maybe MC knows more than she is letting on, or that she and maybe FN had a longer and deeper connection with RB than she is saying. Maybe her reluctance to appear at the inquest and her being in shadow in the Spotlight programme has enhanced this.

I have been trying to put together what she has said, and listened again to her first "ambush" phone call by BR before RB was in the frame, her longer interview with AS on TLV on 5.3.23 after she had been in touch with NSW police, her similar interview on the Spotlight show and the coverage of the "testicles" letter at the inquest.

In the ambush call, she doesn't deny knowing anyone in Australia, only denies knowing whether her ex of 40 years FN has ever been there.

Her delivery in the longer interview and on the Spotlight programme is highly dramatic ("he could KILL!") and she says RB is a potential killer, a master of manipulation and only out for money. It appears she only knew about the serious allegations against RB when informed relatively recently by NSW police. Perhaps it helped her reframe and rethink some personal interaction she had had with him.

She seems to have had the fling with RB (as FdH) in Luxembourg in 1980, when she was separated from FR but not yet divorced. The testicles letter was sent from Australia in 8 August 1980 and assumes the affair is ongoing and there is still a "new life" around the corner.

She tells AS that she asked FN to go and see RB, but it's not clear when or even why:

"We were not together anymore. We were separated, divorced. [...] At a certain moment I thought that there's something wrong with this man. We were in divorce, but I spoke with my husband, and I said I know there's something, someone, I don't, I have, I don't believe him so many. I would like you to, I will show you where he is living and you go to him and tell him something's wrong. Get in contact with him. And my husband did that for me. He was a psychologist. And that's why, he said to him, imagine something saying that, I asked thank you to him for this or for that, and my husband did that. And the other one, DeHedevary, he stole at that visit his identity card." [her guess, presumably]

As told, I assumed she meant this all happened in 1980, and that it prompted her ending the fling with RB. But maybe it was well after, with RB/FdH having come back to Luxembourg thinking it was all still on with MC? Certainly the tone of the testicles letter appears to be pretty confident that plans are still in place.
A good summary. Even during that first call it would be hard to believe she wouldn’t put 2 and 2 together or should that be 3 and 3 with FR, Australia & FRs stolen ID card by her former lover.

JMO but I do believe she knew AKA was married with children. Overhearing a phone call from a public telephone doesn’t ring (excuse the pun) true to me.

I could not identify a body, especially of a loved one, I would be to distraught, so I don't read that much into that. Also he may not have been in the country at the time ? Maybe it will be explained in the Doco, he did speak to MBMP team and seem to be quite forth coming, at least we know he is real now :)
I have had to identify two bodies in my lifetime. Yes, it is extremely distressing but there was a glimmer of hope both times that they had the wrong person. Sadly that wasn't the case. I believe it gave me a sense of closure and allowed me to begin the grief process. The staff at the morgue are very supportive and counseled me both before and after the process.

Agree totally.

"Oh excuse me while I just call my wife in this phone booth" as we wander the streets as I point out to you what bank I bank at.

Just the name of her ex husband, knowing TLV were talking possibly about AH, knowing he lived in Australia and knowing the ex's licence was stolen , knowing he was a "killer", "a liar", a danger to women, would be enough to say, yes I may know someone you talk of, come in and lets chat.

But no, she waited until some of his victims came forward at the inquest then decided to get in first and tell it her way. There is no coming back at that for AH, otherwise he implicates both him and her in doing so.

Which is why he was so upset about her and so shocked she turned against him.
And dont forget she said that she looked after David for him..... "a child who looked just like him".
Um hello,. Here lover look after this child I found wandering the streets who looks just like me.
He did work for her mates, found her clothing she wanted and posted to her - he was in her house and she knew that. She knew him intimately. Knew all about his family.
Diane and David flew back from there when she was heavily pregnant with Maite because she found out about the afffair. He told her lies to get her back because he needed her in this story of his, she knew far too much, knew his extended family and knew his aliases. So Diane goes back, has Maite, probably even knows Monique. After all both FR and AH business where around the corner of each other!
And MC did say, "are you sure the name was Marion" when questioned.
The initial interview on the podcast you can hear she said something toward the end and they talked over the top of it or edited it out.

Then there's the continued writing when he moves to Tasmania in the 90s. You dont correspond to someone you loved and had an affair with for years even when your wife was pregnant with your child, cease the relationship in the early 80s, only to continue writing 10 years later.

Marion Barter changed her name to the initials of MC ex husband. Her passenger card states she is married, a housewife and living in Luxembourg

That right there is enough to investigate more of the union between MC, FR and AH.

The key to all this is Luxembourg

JMO

IIRC early on in the inquest, maybe the first hearing, when surprised to hear that MC had turned over the romantic letter and spoken about him, AH was dismayed and sadly said something along the lines of 'I thought she was my best friend in the whole world...', it was so emotive I felt sorry for him for a moment.

IMO it is likely that MC found AH and his gangsta lifestyle exciting and IMO she knew at the time that he was a career criminal. With the benefit of time, and hearing about the romance frauds she may have now seen the stark reality of it all, hence the condemnation of him and the surrender of the letter. Criminals of all shapes and sizes may have wives who accept that their husbands live outside of the law, or at least they turn a blind eye to it all and stay loyal.

Busy night tonight…..

From TLV FB:

‘Part 2 of Spotlight tonight on 7 starts at 8.45. Trust me when I say, it’s definitely worth staying up for! And if you can’t sleep afterwards, not to worry because straight after, a new episode of the podcast drops.
#JusticeforMarion and the many many others we’ve discovered as part of this investigation. Alison’

It is a 2021 Kia yb Rio. A very nice car for someone on a carer's pension.
Their daughter rubs shoulders with celebrities and is “besties” with a very prominent Australian model. I bet a lot of the money has been put into the kids names to buy properties, etc. Then mum & dad access what they need through the kids.

I've been reading about pruno or
"prison wine" some of the adverse affects are blurry vision, double vision, droopy upper eyelids.
RB said he doesn't drink, didn't he bring wine for GGB, cook dinner with wine or gift his own daughter with tainted stuff..

I think his comment about being a non drinker was thrown in at the inquest for a reason. He didn’t forget about the 7 pubs around Burwash though.
