I don't think there's silence around just the women in Victoria. When a man is murdered, it usually appears in the news for a day or two, and then silence. I think it's the operating style of Vic Police. On the hand, look at the case of Tracy Connelly, the St Kilda prostitute murdered last year. Police have come out and made recent appeals, released more info, and there was even an Australian Story episode on her a couple of weeks ago. I don't have the impression that these cases are not worked on behind the scenes. Not saying I agree with the silence tactic either, but I do believe the detectives on these women's cases in Victoria are mostly dedicated and professional.

Still unsolved:

The family of a woman stabbed to death in Melbourne two years ago will hold a public march to the murder scene this weekend...

Detectives said they had received information Ms Featherston was in the company of a man on Oleander Street on the evening of her death...

Police also released CCTV footage showing Ms Featherston at a business on Robinson Street, Dandenong, the day before she was killed.
