A frantic search is underway for a teenage girl who vanished five days ago.

Shyanne-Lee Tatnell, 14, was last seen in Henry Street in Launceston, Tasmania, on Sunday at around 8.30pm.

Her family are desperately worried and the police helicopter was up in the skies aiding the search for the teenager on Friday.

'Please bring our beautiful Shyanne-Lee home to us safely,' the 14-year-old's grandmother Michelle Hubbard wrote on Facebook.

'We are so concerned as to her whereabouts and safety.

'Nanny needs you home my darling girl xo'

Tasmania Police have urged Shyanne-Lee to contact them or her family to let them know she is safe and well.

The grandmother of 14 year-old girl missing in northern Tasmania for more than four days says the family is "sickened with worry".

14 year-old Shyanne-Lee Tatnell has not been seen or heard from since Sunday.

Her grandmother says the family is "absolutely sickened with worry" about her.

Police are conducting aerial searches of Launceston to find her.

Shyanne-Lee Tatnell, from Burnie, was last seen in an area near Henry Street in Launceston about 8:30pm on Sunday.

Tasmania Police's Sergeant Hamish Woodgate said she was on her way to visit a friend, but she did not arrive.

The rescue helicopter has been deployed to conduct aerial searches.

Miss Tatnell is 160 centimetres tall, with blonde hair and a slim build.

Her grandmother, Michelle Hubbard, said no one had heard from her since Sunday afternoon.

"There's been no phone contact and no social media, which is very unusual for Shyanne because she's usually on it 24/7."

Ms Hubbard said her granddaughter was polite, affectionate and "not very street savvy".

Police are renewing their request for public information to help locate Shyanne-Lee Tatnell who has been missing from Launceston since 30 April.

“Police continue to hold concerns for the welfare of 14-year-old Shyanne-Lee Tatnell who has now been missing from Launceston for a week,” said Inspector Craig Fox.

“Police investigations are ongoing, and a number of searches have been conducted over the weekend to locate Shyanne-Lee.

I found the architect's piece for the renovation and extension at the centre - Youth At Risk Launceston. When I searched for buildings located in Brisbane Street, I located the "Youth at Risk" building as depicted in the architects' link.

So yeah, sounds like what I thought. Not a group home as in an institution run by the state, but a shelter for kids who are juveniles experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. Not sleuthing family, but I did notice that it was a grandparent, not parents, talking to the media.

Launceston teen Shyanne-Lee Tatnell, 14, was last seen crossing the Henry St bridge over the North Esk River towards Ravenswood between 8.34–8.40pm on Sunday, April 30.

On Monday afternoon, Inspector Craig Fox said police held “serious concerns” for the girl’s safety.

Insp. Fox said that while “two to three” witnesses had positively identified Shyanne-Lee at the bridge on April 30, there was not a single bit of information about her movements from that time onwards.

Tasmania Police have resumed combing the North Esk River for clues as to the whereabouts of missing Launceston teen Shyanne-Lee Tatnell, 14.

Shyanne-Lee was last seen crossing the Henry St bridge over the revier heading towards Ravenswood between 8.34–8.40pm on Sunday, April 30.

She hasn’t contacted family, made any financial transactions or been active on social media since that last verified sighting of her.

On Wednesday, Inspector Craig Fox said searches of the river had resumed.

“Police are returning to the North Esk River to conduct another search for Shyanne-Lee and any of her belongings,” he said.

“On Thursday specialist police officers from Search and Rescue, our Dive Squad, and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter will also be deployed to search the North Esk River.”

The new searches coincide with the river being at a particularly low tidal ebb.

A single image of a mystery car on a dark street has been released in the search for a 14-year-old girl who went missing last week in the hopes a driver will come forward with information.

Shyanne-Lee Tatnell was last seen near the North Esk River, east of Launceston in Tasmania, at about 8.30pm on April 30.

Investigators have also called in search and rescue officers, a dive crew and a Westpac rescue helicopter to help with the search efforts.

'Police are continuing to search for Shyanne-Lee, who has not been seen or heard from since Sunday April 30,' Tasmanian Police inspector Craig Fox said.

'We want to speak to anyone who was driving a vehicle on Henry Street, in the vicinity of the North Esk River between the hours of 8pm and 9pm on that Sunday.'

Tasmania Police on Wednesday released CCTV of several cars passing by the area she was last seen at in the hope it could prompt someone's memory.

'These drivers could be potential witnesses of Shyanne-Lee's last known movements, whether they think they saw anything out of the normal,' Mr Fox said.

'One small piece of information could be all we need to locate her.'

Police have said there is nothing to indicate Shyanne-Lee's disappearance was suspicious.
