I was wondering that too. I thought it can't be an extradition hearing, and we haven't heard that he has been charged with murder, he couldn't be charged as a fugitive from justice if he hadn't been charged in Qld yet. (All guesses on my part)

Then I thought, could he have been charged with something like shoplifting (in Coles)? Or a local B&E?

THAT'S for sure!!!! They seem to be not truly understanding the total grief and despair Sophie's family must be feeling.

Benny is alive .. Sophie is not - AND she has been horrifically murdered far from home. No comparison in the way the families would be feeling imo.

Well yes, if they weren't insecure they wouldn't feel the need to walk around so terrified of everyone that they have to try and look like 'hard men' to get enough respect to avoid being attacked (I guess). :floorlaugh:
 
Police will launch extradition proceedings on Tuesday against the man wanted for questioning over the murder of French student Sophie Collombet.

Benjamin James Milward, 25, was arrested in Coffs Harbour in northern New South Wales shortly before 3pm on Monday.

On Monday night, Brisbane homicide detectives were en route to Coffs Harbour, where Mr Milward was held in custody at the local police station.

Mr Milward was arrested while walking along a footpath near a shopping centre on Harbour Drive in the centre of the beachside town.

So true! My ex used to walk like that. When I asked him why he said it was to make himself look bigger. He was a very insecure person, but probably for good reason. Always had a nervous twitch. On the one hand, yes it is masculine BS. No doubt some do it because they survive by being a bully and a stand over. I know with my ex it was more a defensive thing - to not stand out as a target and to be ready to fight if someone jumps you. Humans are really not that far from apes, eh?

Well I'm glad he's your ex, Brightbird!!

And absolutely, it's a defensive thing.

I find it sad - my husband knew in a second what that posture meant - that this guy can 'handle himself'. My guy's a tall, big man but even he is always aware of what other men are doing and how they are coming across physically. Always on the physical alert to some degree. Tis quite full-on to be a man, even in the modern world :facepalm:

Chanel 9 this morning asked a police officer 'have you found her clothes?'
The officer replied 'some items but I won't comment further on that'.

My thoughts are with Sophie's family. I realize it will be awhile but I hope someone starts a crowdsourcing fundraiser so that they might be able to attend the trial (without worrying about money) when it's time.

Qld's top cop speaks with Collombet's dad

They want him returned to Queensland for questioning over the bashing murder of the 21-year-old business student in a Brisbane park 11 days ago.
Following his arrest by NSW police on Monday afternoon, Queensland Police Commissioner Ian Stewart called Ms Collombet's father Guy Collombet.
"I spent some time on the phone with him. He was very dignified and grateful for the information," he told reporters.
"And obviously, we're keeping them up to date."
