Lucky for BM, the prison system and court are slightly familiar.

Yep!

And as if this guy - who is accused of such horrendous acts - is the kind of person who would break down in tears over what he has done!!! Please. What a ridiculous statement from his lawyer.

I know that someone's got to do the job, and that everyone's entitled to a fair trial and legal representation - but I really don't know how these criminal lawyers live with themselves

I'm sure any tears are only for himself.

Probably unsurprising out of 105 professions surveyed that Lawyers have the highest rate of depression. I'd feel pretty fraudulent and guilty I were doing that job too

Isis and MTB, you read my mind. I was wondering what a day in the life of those lawyers was like - I know I couldn't do it. Goes without saying really, but thank you for expressing my exact thoughts.

Sophie Collombet murder: Police say DNA led to arrest

April 10, 2014

POLICE will claim DNA found at the scene of French student Sophie Collombet’s murder matched that of the man charged with the offence.

Police will allege Milward ended Ms Collombet’s life with a single blow to her head so severe it fractured her skull.

He then allegedly arranged her on a park bench and covered her naked body in sheets of newspaper, investigators will claim

The Courier-Mail can reveal a post mortem examination found a mess of cuts, bruises and puncture wounds covering the 21-year-old’s body.

Her eyes had been blackened and bruises covered her hands, feet and elbows. More bruising ran along her spine and tiny puncture marks were found on the soles of her feet and her buttocks.

Police will allege Ms Collombet met her end at the hands of a killer who stripped her naked then covered her with a jacket and pages from a newspaper before throwing her clothes and bag into the Brisbane River.

We should keep in mind that it is imperative for a successful prosecution to be pleaded and tried if necessary, strictly in accordance with the law. If an accused does not have an officer of the court in their corner, things may get derailed unnecessarily.

For example this lawyers comment that BM can hold a discussion without breaking down, tells us he has a capacity to undertake questioning.

Don't be too hasty to judge the defence lawyer here, the chances of success for a bail application will depend upon the strength of the Crown case. Going by the manner in which the QPS flushed BM out for arrest, they look set to oppose a bail application with some confidence.

Reading what this monster did to Sophie is making me feel sick to the stomach. I don't think it is the first time he did something like this.
He doesn't show any empathy and apparently, he doesn't show any remorse at all. He is just feeling sorry for himself.

Imagining that he'll ever be released again is unbearable. He should stay locked up for the rest of his life to rot away in prison.

I don't say this lightly but I don't think his poor relatives know this individual at all.
