I would also think that if new evidence was found a police search of the area would be resumed. I think we all want answers, are desperate for cluesI agree, I am doubtful it is his.
I don't feel this either, a hat was found but unlikely to be his as if it was police would have already renewed their search with this new evidence and DNA testing would have been done straight away. It does not take 10 days to do this. And someone did post the link about this hat on the FB page which was promptly deleted I gather because the hat was not his.New breakthrough in search for 18-year-old backpacker

IMO i dont feel it is his.
Delay in the media publishing, no mention on the LFTH facebook page (there is a section under FAQ there that states updates, so nothing there).
There is als no mention on his cousins FB, I would say coincidence or some cruel person has thrown it in there to find and it is not his.
Interesting. Does look like it is his cap. Hard to imagine there would be another Puma hat exact same as his in the area. His airport photo means he purchased it before he arrived in Australia. So police do know more, probably have a DNA match, but don’t disclose all they knowDaily Tele is pay walled here is photo the hat found in bush and article. Ok so now seeing this it does look more the same colour of hat he was wearing

So it’s not a black hat as reported. Where’s the investigative journalism these days? Doesn’t take much effort to Google a few photos of Theo that are floating around. Can’t rely on Australian media to help much. I bet they don’t bother following this forum or update the article before it duplicates to other news outletsI'm a little bit out of the loop as I haven't read much on this case recently, but this is new to me:

That link doesn't work for me. The 1am time is out to begin with and I'd like to know how they got phone records. This image is from NoCookies | The Australian
The caption under the image reads: Theo Hayez's final phone records, obtained by News Corp, show the route he took from Cheeky Monkey's about 11pm until just after 1am the next morning when the last recorded signal came from a tower near Cape Byron lighthouse.
I don't think the failure of it being publicised by the family or the Police rules it out. I'm waiting for something official that is definitive to be said. His father has come out and acknowledged that verification takes time.IMO i dont feel it is his.

Unless News Corp knows something that police has not disclosed. I too want to know how they obtained his phone records too. I sure would like those privacy acts only allow businesses to share such info with LE, and no one else, ceetainly not News Corp. That link doesn't work for me. Where did that map come from? Have police confirmed this seems correct? Is the discovered camp site along this route?I'm a little bit out of the loop as I haven't read much on this case recently, but this is new to me:

The only articles I can find about this route from phone records from the Police are pay walled. It might take a while for open media to pick up on it.Unless News Corp knows something that police has not disclosed. I too want to know how they obtained his phone records too.
The Australian article is behind a pay wall. The article is pretty much just the paragraph that I've posted above plus the images. From the article it seems that News Corp has managed to obtain the route that he took. It may have been leaked to them. Article states that this is the route he took between 11pm and 1am.The only articles I can find about this route from phone records from the Police are pay walled. I got that pretty much from your previous posts. But it is good that you confirm this. The Australian article is behind a pay wall. That's very distinct showing a lot of doubling back. It isn't like the theorised map I put up showing the direct route to Tallow Beach from CM.The path he took from Cheeky Monkeys to the Cape
