Hey everyone,

The Spedding award by the court is of interest, but discussion of the actual historical charges have nothing to do with William's case.

Please move past that discussion.

Thanks.

ETA: Changed "settlement" to "award by the court".

Jubelin denied that he alerted the media to Spedding’s imminent arrest and gave out his address, but [Justice] Harrison said he was satisfied that Jubelin himself, or an officer acting on his instructions, was responsible.

I was wondering today if Jubes was a witness for O'Brien/Spedding. Or if his book was. :)
The SMH article says his book was looked at in court.

He admits in his first book that he used the arrest to question BS about William while BS was in jail.

I think the historical case was run by the Sex Crimes squad and the prosecutor though.

imo

Thanks for that info, it was behind a paywall. How can we trust a thing GJ has said publicly about the investigation when it has been contradicted by judges in 2 different trials and he has either directly or indirectly been found guilty of illegal conduct? IMO

The Sydney Morning Herald usually allows a few free articles per some period.

NSW Police investigation tactics may change after Bill Spedding pay out, criminologist says

"I think it may make them more cautious with some of their tactics now that they've been openly criticised for some of the more potentially cynical aspects of this case."

..... he was not the only suspect in the Tyrrell case that Strike Force Rosann detectives tried this tactic on.

A magistrate last month found William's foster mother not guilty of lying to the NSW Crime Commission about hitting a child, not William, with a wooden spoon.

Detectives admitted in open court that this charge was laid, at least in part, to pressure her into confessing to offences relating to William's disappearance.

Wasn't it Xanthe's profile of the perp in WT's case, that GJ clung to although the likelihood of such a scenario seems so unlikely, such as an opportunistic abductor?

I can certainly see what look like similarities in the tactics to possibly put forward as tendency evidence in another case... however it seems police do have evidence of a chid in the FC's care, being assaulted, and that needs to be tested in court.

Whatever the evidence was that was needed to convince a judge to sign the warrant to have 6 listening devices and taps on the FC's phones for moths, was probably not insubstantial.
MOO

No, it wasn't. It was DS Laura Beacroft that built the POI profiles.

On Monday, August 19 the inquest heard from Detective Sergeant Laura Beacroft who was behind building the persons of interest profiles for the case.
William Tyrrell inquest: Court hears of child seen wearing Spiderman suit

And it was police senior forensic psychologist Sara Yule who first hypothesised an opportunistic abduction.

“I’ve assisted with a lot of missing persons cases but this case presents several significant, unique challenges,” Yule said in comments released by police.

“There really is a limited number of possibilities that can account for William’s disappearance.”

The NSW police force’s senior forensic psychologist said there was “only a narrow window of opportunity” to take the little boy.
